Paul George's All-Star weekend?

Post#1 » by Moooose » Tue Feb 7, 2012 6:28 am

Given his remarkable array of skills, Paul George could be a very busy man come All-Star Weekend. He's a lock for the rookie-sophomore game and belongs in both the 3-point shootout and the slam-dunk contest.

seeing him in all those three events would be awesome. Hope he gets the nod on both the slam dunk and 3 point contest. Can't wait.

There's some buzz around him now, so I don't see why his name won't continue to circulate. I don't when they announce it, but I certainly hope we have representation all over.

Rookie/Sophomore Challenge with George
Haier Shooting Stars with Reggie (he'll be there anyways, right?), George/Hibbert, Tamika Catchins
Skills Challenge with Collison/George (least likely, of course)
3-point Shootout with George/Collison
Slam Dunk Contest with George
All-Star Game with Hibbert

I want to see a lot of Pacer representation around this year's all-star festivities.

I think Granger would get the nod for haier shooting stars. That's if the Pacers are even involved? Not every team is involved, correct?

If Reggie, PG, and Tamika did the Shooting Stars that'd be so awesome! I want to see that so bad.

I've always wanted to see Reggie and Cheryl compete as a team.

George deserves a shot at all the secondary events available.

Granger and Hibbert deserve consideration for the all-star game, and I think West may get some too. He was 10th in the MVP rankings.

As a team we deserve two all-stars, but will probably only get one because we're so well balanced.

If George gets sophomore, dunk and three point competition... people are going to get their wish about Granger being unhappy. For whatever reason, we have a lot of fans getting upset with him and wanting him to be traded. Some seem to think he isn't capable of taking a back seat. He seems to be handling it well being a team player this year imo. He takes his shots but he passes them up plenty and he's playing the leader role by getting angry and trying to get the team a fair shake/motivated.

So what I mean is... If George is already in three other events while and Hibbert is already in the all-star game, it would be messed up to put them both in the haier shooting games(if Indiana is even involved) over Granger. I really don't understand some of the dislike for him but at that point, Granger probably will be pissed off. George has the potential to be better but he's currently putting up numbers earlier in the game and tends to disappear. Granger has struggled but he seems to be at his best in clutch moments(minus the last game, he could have won it a couple times on wide open shots). People can think whatever they want but nobody is going to change my mind that he is the leader of this team and the best player on this team.

The fact that David West was able to come in an easily solidify the other leadership role, says all we need to know about how much we need Granger. Maybewe won't win a championship but it will be 3 more years before we have a chance at one if we trade Granger for another young guy. Granger isn't exactly old but everyone else is young. You don't win championships with guys that are 22-25 years old. It's good we have Granger and West's leadership because that's what separates us from being the Hawks. They had a group of all young guys and they've done nothing with it. You need vets to teach, preferably ones that are actually good like Granger and West, and not all of those old washed up guys that were never very good anyways that the Hawks had. I have nothing to back it up but I'm thinking Granger has taken George under his wings. As well has Hibbert, Collison and Hansbrough. He's constantly feeding the ball down low to Hibbert and Hans. Don't underestimate the role of an experienced player. Especially one that's had to average 20-25, 5, 5 a season just to keep the team competitive.

I think Granger would appreciate the rest and use it as fuel to really destroy people in the second half of the season.

Pretty much every trade post that graces this board has Granger involved for something. Just look at the Evan Turner trade above, Granger getting shipped out again.

I think people are still positive about Granger, but he is our most tradeable piece right now.

I don't think Granger will get mad not to get invited into the All-Star game.

First, he is lucky to have been there before the East got crowded with All-Stars from the West.
Second, he's been to the three point shootout and didn't succeed.
Third, he can't dunk like George does. It would be silly to see him there competing against Blake Griffin.

I think he's smart enough to understand what's important in his career. We need him. He's still the anchor of the franchise, and playing him alongside George will only get better.

Unless he turns it over on a dunk attempt, he should be fine.

George has a particular style that I think wil captivate the crowd. Some of his dunks on youtube easily surpass his reverse double-pump a few weeks back, and that one was contest worthy.

I bet you he has been dunking since he was six foot tall, probably 6th/7th grade, he has a few up his sleave.

He's officially IN.

He'd be competing with Chase Budinger, Iman Shumpert, and Derrick Williams.
I can already see him bringing home the trophy and some more fans.

It's all fan voting, no judges. I can see Iman Shumpert taking it all in that case. Man....

Yeah, definitely. It would be like the all of China making Yi an all-star.
I just hope Shumpert miss big time.. and Paul do a 360 East Bay Funk Dunk.

I heard Larry Legend may help Paul George, so maybe that would help negate some of the Lin fanfare. I'd like to see him dunk over Hibbert again.
