Granger and Hibbert deserve consideration for the all-star game, and I think West may get some too. He was 10th in the MVP rankings.
As a team we deserve two all-stars, but will probably only get one because we're so well balanced.
If George gets sophomore, dunk and three point competition... people are going to get their wish about Granger being unhappy. For whatever reason, we have a lot of fans getting upset with him and wanting him to be traded. Some seem to think he isn't capable of taking a back seat. He seems to be handling it well being a team player this year imo. He takes his shots but he passes them up plenty and he's playing the leader role by getting angry and trying to get the team a fair shake/motivated.
So what I mean is... If George is already in three other events while and Hibbert is already in the all-star game, it would be messed up to put them both in the haier shooting games(if Indiana is even involved) over Granger. I really don't understand some of the dislike for him but at that point, Granger probably will be pissed off. George has the potential to be better but he's currently putting up numbers earlier in the game and tends to disappear. Granger has struggled but he seems to be at his best in clutch moments(minus the last game, he could have won it a couple times on wide open shots). People can think whatever they want but nobody is going to change my mind that he is the leader of this team and the best player on this team.
The fact that David West was able to come in an easily solidify the other leadership role, says all we need to know about how much we need Granger. Maybewe won't win a championship but it will be 3 more years before we have a chance at one if we trade Granger for another young guy. Granger isn't exactly old but everyone else is young. You don't win championships with guys that are 22-25 years old. It's good we have Granger and West's leadership because that's what separates us from being the Hawks. They had a group of all young guys and they've done nothing with it. You need vets to teach, preferably ones that are actually good like Granger and West, and not all of those old washed up guys that were never very good anyways that the Hawks had. I have nothing to back it up but I'm thinking Granger has taken George under his wings. As well has Hibbert, Collison and Hansbrough. He's constantly feeding the ball down low to Hibbert and Hans. Don't underestimate the role of an experienced player. Especially one that's had to average 20-25, 5, 5 a season just to keep the team competitive.
