Story on the wire tap about our Native son and much wanted SG Eric Gordon is gonna have orthoscopic surgery on his knee which has not healed fully.

Will this effect his RFA value this summer? Depends on how he plays when he comes back from the Knife. I'd still go after him this summer but depending on workouts and exams how much does he get paid. Offer Gordon a short contract with a ETO for the 2nd year.

I wish Eric a speedy recovery and hope to see him in a Pacers Uniform soon.

No offense but the trade is horrible and the Pacers would deserve to fall back into obscurity. Giving up two starting caliber point guards and playing Stephenson and Vasquez(assuming that's what you mean?) at the point is disgusting. Eric Gordon is not a point guard and by acquiring Gordon at the trade deadline, he'd still be out for another month which means our guards would be Paul George, Dahntay Jones, Lance Stephenson and Greiveis Vazquez.

Fwiw, I just read the Pacers are interested in signing JR Smith. He has Brandon Rush written all over him but he's better than Rush was and we get get deeper without giving anyone up. He would take minutes from Dahntay Jones, Lance Stephenson and AJ Price on top of being better than all of them. That's win-win x100. Then just find a way to get Kaman and this team is stacked.

I think this injury makes it all the more likely that EJ finished out the year in New Orleans, and that he likely takes a long-term extension from whomever will offer it. His RFA is going to be tough as is, since NO can and likely will match anything. Add in that he's fighting off injuries all year, and that they just don't seem to know what is wrong with his knee, and his value hurts a bit.

Although, this may make it more likely that he takes a one year Qualifying Offer to rebuild his value and then re-enters free agency. I'm just not sure that we could be a player at that point.

Bringing in Eric Gordon would be a mistake. The guy is injured all of the time. If you look at his history, he has played 78, 62 and 56 games not counting this year.

If the NBA fail to sell the team by the offseason (which I think is likely as the process has hardly started), I think it'd be a really tough decision for the NBA to match any offer for Gordon.

How do they justify adding the liability whilst trying to get the best return for the Hornets? I don't think prospective owners will need Gordon on the team, they look at balance sheets rather than box scores.

I could see NO agreeing to a sign-and-trade for a TPE and a few 1sts.

FYI... He wanted 7.5 per and the Pacers didn't offer him an extension, they wanted to give him less. As things stand, he is a 20 minute a night player here, Bird knows it and that's why he didn't get paid. Johan has nothing to do with it.
