Anyone think Pacers will make trade.

Post#1 » by celtspacers » Sat Mar 3, 2012 2:47 am

I dont. I talked to someone related to a person in Pacers Org. He says Larry Bird should not be in any trade talks . says when they talk trades Bird gets very nervous. He's scared to pull the trigger. told me about a trade during summer when they were trying to get the 2nd pick from Minnesota. They had a deal then Bird got nervous and pulled out. Said trade was Granger for the 2nd Pick- Ricky Rubio and a 2013 1st from Minnesota.

I feel like you only create threads to try and antagonize people. Don't bother.

An insider told me that Eric Gordon is plan A and everything else is plan B.
So no, I don't expect a trade. Maybe a rotation player.

An insider told me that good spelling and grammar makes someone look less like a fool.

Thank you for the indirect namecalling.

At least I know two subjects give a plural verb.

Sure we will. Odds are we'll be the third team in any big name trade. Hopefully for picks or a PG upgrade.

We've got the space, the least we can do is absorb an expiring who may help the team throughout the rest of the season.

I expect we'll try to pick up a player. I do not expect any of the current players who are in the regular rotation to be involved.

While its not our most remarkable need, I think the Pacers are probably in the best position to acquire Chris Kaman. Can't blame New Orleans if they don't want to take back large contracts when moving Kaman. Not sure anyone else can give some young asset (even if its a marginal one) while absorbing Kaman's contract. It would be a rental but why not? Can't have too many big bodies if we catch Orlando and Howard in the playoffs.

I don't think that deal with Minny for hte #2 pick and Rubio was ever offered for Granger.

Right now we don't need to do anything we have won 6 straight and we're playing real well.

Sometimes the best growth is from letting your talent become a UNIT,a TEAM rather than go get some mercenaries and start over on the teamwork. While I guess Indy could upgrade Hill/Collison, it's hardly a crisis and it could be as wise to try to boost that with FA/picks, and keep most of the core in place for now.

In a trade...on average you lose about as much as you gain. Some terrible trades seemed like a good idea at the moment.

This was a bs rumor that was posted on bleacherreport.com or something else that had no basis in fact. If your person in the Pacers Org. claims that this was fact, they are only reading worthless opinion based blogs. They don't work in the basketball side of the organization.

Do you really think that Minnesota would have traded the 2nd, Rubio, and a future 1st for Granger? Do you think Granger could have even netted the 2nd pick by himself in value?

Kahn has wanted Granger for years, so it's no surprise every year there is a new rumor.

If Bird would've pulled that off people would've concluded that Kahn was planted by the Pacers.

That trade would've solved all of our problems. Dwill/Rubio and Minny's 2013 pick. Ultimately, when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Yeah I hear that, he makes every PG in the league look like Derrick Rose WITHOUT trying.

Question is do you trade him for another PG or for an upgrade at a different position and let HIll become the starter?

Weak stuff + weak stuff + weak stuff doesn't equal strong stuff or even good enough to be a starter stuff.

Who are we going to get with a couple of pieces we don't even want?

We would have to sacrifice one of our better guys to get teams to listen.
Players on the decline for exemple. Or players who are soft.

I seriously doubt Hibbert is going to command the max from anyone.

I don't think anything's going to happen at the deadline. We have assets and capspace, and have yet to test this unit in the playoffs. Young teams always take time to develop.

There are alot of teams with cap space, Hibbert was an all star, and centers are usually overpaid in the free agent market. Kwame Brown got 7.5M for a year, so do not be shocked.

Cap space is always a good thing for trades but do not see anything out there that really helps us now that does not hurt our long term picture. Would love to see something happen though.
