http://www.nba.com/pacers/video/2012/03 ... index.htmlsure doesn't sound like the coaches have any desire to move Danny. I'd put the odds of a Granger trade very low.

I dig it. A lot of people harp on his shooting percentage but he gets to the line a lot and makes his free throws. I think he's a good leader and is willing to accept whatever role it takes to win. Whether people like it or not, this is his team. Maybe Paul George will take over but for now, he's the guy that deserves the most shots come playoff team. When he's in the zone, he's in the zone. He does all of the little things too.
I don't know why people are so quick to want former Indiana HS players and college players to join the team while being quick to push Granger out the door. The guy wants to be here... I've seen people mention Tyler Zeller. I'm sure a number of Indiana colleges would have taken him but he left for North Carolina. Why people are so desperate to bring back former players is beyond me when the best player on the team wants to be here. Those guys chose to be a part of something else, Granger has said he wants to be a part of Indiana. See Reggie Miller as an example.
We need to appreciate what we have, while we have it. Granger wants to be here and that playoff series against the Bulls that impressed everyone so much, none of those games are close and the Pacers get swept without Danny. Nowitzki and Pierce are examples of what can happen when you stick by a player for the long haul. He may not be at that level but if he were to win a championship here, he wouldn't be that far off the radar. For whatever reason, I trust in him when the time comes. You don't have to be Peyton Manning to win championships, in fact, Peyton's numbers were terrible in the playoff run to his only championship. Think he threw like 3tds to 8ints or something. Elite players aren't everything. He contributes so much and wants to be here. Good enough for me as long as he's giving it all and putting up quality numbers. I don't expect him to be Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan. Even they needed other all-stars and hall of famers.
People need to lay off Granger imo. Thanks for posting the video!

"What is your role now?"
"To win."

there was an era when management liked the idea of having local guys at the end of the bench even though they weren't good enough to get any PT. the thought was they'd sell tickets. I don't think it worked in the box office or the box score.
there is also a long held feeling in ownership that spending a high draft pick on a local player often puts too much pressure on the player and stunts his development. the example given or perhaps I should say the case that caused this feeling to develop was Rick Mount.
I'm with you 100%. this is Danny's team. Roy and Paul may be on their way to co-ownership but Danny is not going to stand in the way of anyone's improvement and I think it would be a terrible mistake to push Danny out the door to make more room for Paul to grow. the room is already there.

I wasn't alive, but ever since Reggie Miller was taken over Steve Alford, you'd figure people would know better.

you are making me feel old. my youngest child was born before Reggie was drafted. I took his older sister to ABA games at the fairgrounds.
