http://www.indystar.com/article/20120527/SPORTS04/205270371/1062/SPORTS04Interesting. Hope he can convince Larry for one more round.
Larry did an incredible job overhauling the team the way he wanted it. As a result, we now have a young team oozing with potential, a group of guys who'll only get better in time. Maybe Simon realized we are quite near the fruition of the plan Larry has started.
One more push, Larry!

Until the last year and a half or two years, I have been somewhat staunch on Larry's work. At this point, I am buying into his plans and would like to have him back. I think he is done though. Can't remember which game against Miami it was but Larry was interviewed in game and his choice of words made me feel he is done. Can't remember what he said but it struck me as though his decision was already made.

The article says "another 3-year plan". New makes it sound like there are changes to be made. Is wiretap trying to manipulate again?

Thanks, Boneman. "New" seems misleading so i edited the title to reflect this.

I really hope Larry stays. I realized the other day that even when the Pacers were at their lowest years between the brawl and now, they were still within striking distance of the playoffs. So it's no surprise he's done as well as he has.
With or without Larry, I have confidence Simon will find the right next step. I'll just have more confidence with Larry.
PS - not that I think people are too worried about Roy leaving (he theoretically can since he's a restricted free agent), but on his Twitter, he did still refer to the Pacers as "we."

I really think Larry needs to come back, and personally hope he does. He's done a great job. Also, off topic, I want the best for Shaw and he deserves a head coaching job. Bug as a greedy fan, I really hope he comes back. But I really dont think theres a chance in the world he doesnt get hired. Im guessing Jordan finally makes a good choice, and the Bobcats hire him.

My personal feeling is that Simon wants a 3 year plan to win an NBA championship!
Last year they got back only to lose in round 1.
This year they got past round 1 only to fall in round 2.
So 2013 should be no less then the eastern conference finals
2014 should be no less then the NBA finals.
2015 should be no less then an NBA championship.
Doing all this while maintaining the same standards we have.

I think every teams 3 yr goal, or less, is to win a title. Granted we are on path. And i hope we do. But i believe his idea is to become more competitve in the next few years to win a title. Everyone can say they plan to win a title, though I understand where you come from.
Simon has never had a problem spending money, small market or not. We did horrible in attendance this year. But I dont think that will deter him from going after d.will and nash, in that order. He knows already attendance will be way up next year based solely off of how we did in the playoffs. Last year, we made the playoffs, but half the home tix went to bulls fans. This year it was all Pacer fans. Simon, himself, even put on a pacers swag shirt, he knows we are right there.
He will go after williams/nash, then gordon. he isnt afraid to spend money, as long as the fans will spend money, just like the 90's. we are back, the fans are back, simons pocket books will be back, and larry, cannot pass that up, and he will be back

Per wiretap Bird might return, meaning he'd be down for three more seasons atleast.
My guess is that he will make changes to our team because they are, how did Bird put it, 'soft.'

^^ Yes. Though Bird clarified that the team was soft ONLY in game 5. No one to blame though, we're young and the trades and tricks of the game comes with maturity. This is going to be an interesting offseason.

Kravitz' column today in the Star agrees with how I read the press conference yesterday. Bird pretty much said he'll be back as long as he and Herb are on the same page meaning there is no spending freeze. if you haven't seen the video, you should.
