AP: Hibbert's Preference Is to Stay With Pacers

Roy Hibbert wants to keep playing basketball in Indiana, and the Pacers intend to make their All-Star center happy.

It will just come down to dollars and sense.

"Of course this isn't going to be his last time in Indy, he's not going anywhere," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said with a smile shortly Thursday before playing in the Caroline Symmes celebrity softball game, which benefits the Indiana Children's Wish Fund.

Well, just like we all thought. Roy wants to stay in Indy. Vogel wants to keep him here. The Pacers will keep him.

Other news in the article is below:

Last week, Vogel and team president Larry Bird both indicated they would like the roster to return intact -- a combination that would require signing two key restricted free agents, Hibbert and guard George Hill.

....

To Vogel, it's a no-brainer.

"I love our team so much, there's such a great positive chemistry and any time you see any of those guys, it just lights up," Vogel said. "We're going to get every single one of them (free agents) back. The Pacers are going to shoot for the moon."

Looks like the goal is to retain everybody and make some ancillary moves around the edges, much like last year, only minus a David West-like addition.

i made this assesment much earlier. Hibbert is very loyal. His rookie year he made his twitter: Hoya2aPacer. He has no intention of leaving, as long as we make an effort to keep him. Hibbert is very loyal by nature. He will be a Pacer for life, or at least should be.

Anybody else feel Indiana is making Roy the face of the franchise and not Granger?

We gotta keep him. I do think he wants to stay in Indiana, his agent was just trying to get the biggest contract possible.

Did anyone else other than me listen to Roy's exit interview; and become a little concerned by what was said. I was looking forward to hearing what Roy would be working on for the summer to improve. Maybe some footwork; strength; conditioning; or shooting. Hes talking about acting; and playing very little basketball. Not the most exciting news to hear from probably the teams most important player. What do you guys think?

I think Roy has a really dry sense of humor and it was on full display in that interview. Both he and the interviewer finally cracked up at the end but that was all joking around. He made the all-star game, but his season highlight was getting his nose broken. Is anyone concerned about that?

Hibbert is pretty cool.

He took a bunch of Area 55 fans to the movies in Castleton on what seemed like an imulse desire to go have fun. Atleast his intent seems genuine, like he thoroughly enjoys being around his personal fan base. That is unheard of.

I hope he gives us a nice hometown discount.
