Bird met with Orlando.

Posted on Hoopshype:

The Orlando Magic hired Rob Hennigan as its new general manager Wednesday, but the team was pursuing Indiana Pacers President Larry Bird for the job, Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore learned. According to Pingalore's sources, Magic ownership met with Bird, the NBA Executive of the Year, in Boca Raton in recent weeks. WKMG Local 6

Hmmmm. I guess Bird could've been working a transaction.

Larry wants to spend his retirement days in Florida, right?
I don't see him taking a front office job in Orlando though. Hopefully just a "friendly" meeting because other than Orlando's draft picks i can't find someone worth dealing for in their roster aside from Howard.

Can't imagine it as anything other than merely a courtesy conversation.

Hmm? Orlando didn't pursue Bird. I can't see that anything I said was incorrect.

Bird will remain a consultant, which gives him the freedom to deal with his health issues and possibly return in a year or two.

I actually like the prospect of Walsh and Pritchard working in tandem through this most critical offseason. I trust both of them will swindle teams much more effectively than Bird and Morway were capable of doing. The cap space helps too, but these two guys are closers.

We also know Walsh will spend the hell out of it, if he feels like it (see JO/Rose/Cro).
