Anybody else disappointed with Birds last pick. The team couldve had Perry Jones III. Jones has Paul George type talent. I just dont know what to say about this pick. Thoughts?

Long-term backup to Roy Hibbert and can also pull minutes at the 4 as well. He can play next to Roy, West, or Hansbrough. Solid backup. Tenacious rebounder, tough defender, and he does all the dirty work. Very much in the mold of Jeff Foster. He will play early and often. Lou is gone. Fesenko will likely be investigated as the 3rd center. Rounds out the 4/5 rotation.

Obviously, I still would've greatly preferred Moultrie, and to a lesser extent, PJ3.

Could we have made a worse pick? Serious question. So many better bigs available. and we desperately need shooting but we pass on English, Lamb, Johnson, Taylor, etc. to draft another big who can't shoot or play defense. smh back to an 8 seed we go

Big, physical, high motor, great athlete...fits a need. All he is missing is talent.

Simon must have upset Bird, that is why he put the screws to us in the draft. Walsh must not had any say in it because even he wouldn't pick that bad. I done got sick, I think I'm going to have to start drinking what a waste of a draft pick, and the bad thing there was still someone around that was pretty good.

He can defend. And boy can he rebound. Top 10 rebounder in the NCAA, and rebounding appears to be the biggest skill that can immediately translate to the NBA. Many worse picks out there. Bernard James would have been one. Draymond Green would have been another.

A rookie who averaged 6 and 7 in college and an inefficient, blackhole, bad defending and defensive rebounding undersized 4 rounds out the 4/5 rotation? This seems VERY optimistic.

Let's hope Bird is right this time and we get a "dirty work" player that does rebound and plays defense.

Yeah, because hansbrough does NOT do the dirty work. His hustle is overrated.

It is what it is.

Hibbert/Plumlee/Fesenko
West/Hansbrough/Pendergraph.

Keep in mind that HIbbert and West will play a combined 64 minutes of the possible 96 minutes at the 4 and 5. If the other 4 guys can effectively play the other 32 minutes, then we'll be ok. Likely, Granger will play some 4 in an uptempo offense at times as well.

Let's hope we trade him straight up for a second rounder and maybe they can pick someone that might be able to make it in the NBA. Miles Plumlee = Greg Ostertag (spelling)

Oh, he hustles. He just does it without rebounding, defending, scoring and passing.

Is that a bad thing? Ostertag was a solid backup center in the NBA for a LONG time.

I disagree. They're completely different players. Miles is a heck of an athlete.
