Brook, Robin, or heck even both?
The Nets just got Joe Johnson, resigned Gerald Wallace, set to possibly resign Deron Williams and trade for Dwight Howard.
True the Nets need Brook Lopez possibly to get Howard, but they could also use a trade exception from a sign and trde and accomplish the same thing.
Similar for Robin Lopez, too.
Thoughts???

Brook will likely cost within 10% of Roy, and is simply a significantly less rounded player overall. He's a great offensive player, very poor defensive player, and just can't stay healthy.
Robin Lopez would have been a decent addition if we had not drafted Plumlee. Ultimately, they serve a similar purpose, though Plumlee will likely do it for half the cost of Robin or less over the next 4 years.

I don't see Orlando giving up Dwight for mediocre pieces, and I really doubt Dwight is going to sign for less just to play in Brooklyn.

Looks like Lopez is resigning for the 4 year max from BK. The article I read on how this affected the Howard trade stated that Lopez had max offers from Portland and Charlotte and would have signed one of them soon anyway which would have ended any Howard trade talks anyway since he could no longer be a S&T piece at that point. If that's the case, then why didn't the Nets just let him sign one of those deals? They could have matched it immediately if they wanted to and saved themselves a few million bucks by locking him into the lower raises allowed by another team.
Also, this is positive Pacer news. Hibbert looks like a better deal now.

If Brook had signed one of those offers and then Brooklyn matched, Brook would have had veto rights over any trade he would be involved in for an entire calendar season. With him signing straight up with Brooklyn, they can include him in any deal as of mid-January (apparently, when you re-sign players on Bird rights, they're trade moratorium's last an extra month???Just saw it on Twitter).
Thus, Dwight chasing isn't over, just temporarily delayed for Brooklyn.

Thanks. I didn't ever notice your response and just saw this in Hollinger's chat:
John Hollinger (12:44 PM)
Here's the problem: If somebody else signed him to an offer sheet, he couldn't be traded without his consent for an entire year. So Lopez would have had veto power over a Dwight Howard trade. While it's still remote that they can get Howard in January, a Lopez offer sheet took those odds to zero. And I do think Portland might have jumped in with one.
