Can't say i'm an expert of how the Kevin Pritchard era worked out in Portland, but from what I know, which is probably the most obvious thing about the Pritchard era, is how aggressive he was. Always on draft nights, Portland would be wheeling and dealing. He was never satisfied with his roster and was always active in searching for the next deal.

People change philosophy's all the, rather be a general manager or a head coach. Essp guys who have been out of the business and can reflect on how they did and possibly regret some deals. So, i wasn't quite sure how or what approach Pritchard would have taken once he got the power in Indianapolis but it appears today we are in for a roller coaster ride.

Free agency officially opened today. Pritchard was as quiet as humanly possible and giving us zero hints on what the organization was thinking about the Roy Hibbert offer sheet. Once the signings were allowed to be real, we matched the Portland offer, made a 3-player trade, and signed Gerald Green. Also, been rumored to be in talks on DJ Augustin.

We could be in for some fun times...

We didn't match Hibbert because he would have had to sign an offer in order for us to do so. For me there is a heavy distinction. If he would have signed with Portland, that would have been equal to catching your wife in bed with the neighbor. He displayed loyalty by not signing with them. And now after seeing Lopez get paid more, all is good again.

Pritchard is doing fine.

(edit: I'm not talking about anyone's wife in particular, I'm just trying to relate the scenario to something.)

Hibbert never signed the Portland offer sheet? I thought he did. NVM but still great for us to re-sign him.

I don't know, I wouldn't have minded tying up the Blazer's money for 3 days just to stick it to them. See the link below, which offers another take. I don't agree (and think rant is rubbish) but its an interesting theory none the less.

I'm with you, but Herb Simon operates differently. You see, even though Portland crossed the line, he still showed forgiveness. A true sportsman indeed.

Eh, don't buy it. If they had no intent on signing Hibbert, they put themselves where they pretty much almost did.

I like Pritchards agressive style to build a winner. The Pacers can only gain from a guy like him being the GM also he has Walsh and Bird as mentors so he has good advice at his disposal.
