It seems like he may be available for little cost, and his price is right (1.1 mill). Hansbrough for Augustin and then a first round pick for Blair?

Blair is owed roughly $1 million for next season and has grown frustrated with the Spurs. For the last two years Blair played a role in the regular season, only to find himself anchored to the bench in the playoffs.

The Spurs explored trading Blair in and around the draft but could not consummate a deal. Blair has told those around him he expected to be moved and with teams like Philly having real interest, a deal seems probable.

I like the idea of getting Dejuan Blair to back up West.

I would trade Hansbrough for him.

Blair has no future in San Antonio so Pops might consider swapping out b/u PF's. At one time Blair started at center, so his versatility is nice.

If he's valuable to a team, why would San Antonio let him go so easily? They've tried to trade him, and couldn't, and now letting him walk despite him being available for dirt cheap. Spurs don't let good players go very often. To me, it seems like Popovich got as much out of Blair as possible and now they just kicked him to the curb. They knew his NBA lifespan was going to be shortened due to his knees.

Personally, i wouldn't even touch him. Not worth the headache of signing a guy and then having him sit injured while we're scrambling to find replacement players in big games.

If we are willing to take a risk on somebody, i'd rather do it on someone tough and physical, like Darko Milicic. Who would also come cheap.

You may be right about the injury risk of Blair. I never thought of it that way. Nevertheless; I was thinking if the team is really interested in Elton Brand; why not just sign Jermaine O'Neal on a vet min deal. He would provide similar production as a backup 4/5 and it would be nice to let him retire a Pacer while providing solid minutes as a backup for a couple years.

Jermaine's knees are shot. I'm all for him retiring here, but to assume he'll actually give us productivity is a bit of a reach.

He started at Center for the Celtics most of last season and didnt look to be too bad. I figured off the bench at the 4 for maybe about 15-18 mins a game he could be good for Indy. One thing he's still good at is defending the rim. Here's a little reel from last two seasons in Boston.

Agree, thats my take on it as well. It'd need to a 3 team trade where SA get back multiple 2nds or a 1st, Indy get Blair and a 3rd team get Hansbrough. Not sure that deal exists at the moment though.

What does concern me is that he has played less than 50 games in the last two seasons, and is coming off yet another surgery.

Well, Lorbek just signed a 3 year deal with some team in Barcelona, so I'm not sure that the Spurs are just going to let him walk now.

They already signed De Colo. That was the roster spot they were looking to clear Blair for.

Based off Blair's p/t in the 2012 playoffs, Popz wants nothing to do with him.
