Marc J. Spears: Jazz free agent forward Josh Howard expected to make a decision soon, source tell Y! Sports. Utah, IND, GS, BK and NY in mix. Twitter

Dont really know what type of role he'd play for the Pacers; however he is a pretty good 2/3. He is a solid ballhandler; passer; shooter and defender. I dont think he'd be interested in being an end of the bench type of guy like Dahntay but if that's the plan for him; it would be an hell of an upgrade over D. Jones. Thoughts?

This appears to be very un-Larry-like.

Yeah it is; but it is reminiscent of an old Walsh move. Remember the Pacers before Bird took over they had Captain Jack; Artest; O'Neal; and Tinsley. All guys who were known to have character flaws. But knew how to play. Although I like the team as is; considering that theyre all good guys. I personally think the team needs one or a couple of mean vets to reinforce the attitude of smashmouth throughout the team. No team ever wins with a team full of blue collar; great character nice guys. Like Popovich said "Give me some nasty"

Well if it's a cheap enough deal, it could end up a steal. Josh Howard was a starting SF on a good Mavericks team for many years. I guess he got injured in 09-10, got traded, and has been a shell of his former self since?

If we can bring him in cheap, drive his value back up, and then trade him, it would be a slick slick move.

Right, so we all think.

But there are plenty of cases of guys who were really good, then hit a bad rough patch for a few years, and then bounced back into "good veteran contributor" status.

It could happen with Josh Howard.
