The Pacers have signed free agents Luke Nevill and Ben Hansbrough.
I expect these are un-guaranteed training camp contracts.

Yeah, training camp contracts. Ben Hansbrough wasn't really impressive at the Summer League.

I think it'd be best for us to keep Sam Young and Blake Ahearn, if we decide to keep any of them. They seem more like proven players than the rest.

Luke Nevill big 7'2 centre would be handy as a 3rd string centre

while I'd be happy to see a true center compete for Jeff Pendergraph's roster spot, I think the five spots for bigs on the active roster are filled by Roy, David, Tyler, Ian, and Miles. barring injury I think Nevill's best out come would would be a seat in the row behind the bench.

Out of the bunch I really hope Sam Young sticks, I think he fits our style to a T.

Isn't that exactly what we got when we drafted Plumlee?

yes, although I expect Plumlee to also compete with Hansbrough for minutes at the four. I don't see Nevill having a shot at making the active 12 as Hibbert, West, Hansbrough, Plumlee, and Mahinmi should be the active bigs barring injury.

As far as i can see, the roster is pretty much set. I don't really see Ahearn, Ben Hansbrough, or Nevill getting into the final roster.

Ahearn may have a chance over Gaines, considering he's already proven himself, albeit in the D-League, while Gaines has really done... nothing.

Gaines is also from the D-League and he's been a serviceable point guard in the little amount of games he's played in the league, notably in his stint with New Jersey. Well, there's no wrong in assuming Ahearn is better, but as far as i know, it is Ahearn who needs to prove himself worthy of a roster spot.

I think there is an open spot for the third point guard although Lance could claim that spot is he shows he is a true combo guard. being able to defend a position is as important as being able to score from it. you have to have 3 guys who can defend the point and 5 guys who can defend the paint against centers or power forwards and 3 guys with enough speed to defend outside but enough size to not be posted up by the average small forward. I thought last year we were short 2 centers and one tall wing. Lou and Dahntay did all you could ask but Lou couldn't defend centers and Dahntay couldn't defend small forwards.
