Can The Pacers Win With George Hill?

Here's a piece I just wrote about George Hill, and why I don't believe the Pacers can ever win a championship with him locked in as the starting point guard. How does everybody feel about him there? Confident? Nervous? http://www.pacerspulse.com/2012-article ... lemma.html

Yes the Pacers can win a championship with George Hill at PG, however, I don't think the Pacers will win a championship in the near future no matter who the PG is.

About 3 years ago Larry Bird said the in order for the Pacers to make the NBA Finals, they needed one or two more players as good as or better than Granger. That was before the LeBron going to Miami move. In today's NBA, the best the Pacers can hope for is to make it to the Conference Finals...in my opinion.

George Hill is in his first full season as a starting PG. In my opinion, he will continue to improve. With a healthy Granger, West and Hill the Pacers have a good nucleus. If Hibbert starts playing better and George continues to improve, making it to the Conference Finals could become a regular occurrence much like it was in the 1990's.

One final note. In my opinion, the Pacers all-time best PG was Freddie Lewis. I am not saying Hill is nearly as good as Lewis, however, their stats are fairly similar.

For his career Lewis averaged 33 mpg, 17 ppg, 4.2 assists, 2.6 TOV, shot 43.3% and 28% from 3 point range.

Hill this season (his first as starting PG) is averaging 34.8 mpg, 14.8 ppg, 5.3 assists, 1.8 TOV, is shooting 42.4% and 32.5% from 3 point range.

Statistically he is right there with Lewis. He just needs to learn to be more consistent and continue to improve as a leader.

Well, I'm not sure of the point of posting this thread when we have one exactly like it already.

I don't get the skepticism about Hill. he's hit clutch shots for us already this season, and he's playing well. him and west are the reasons we've won any games this season. sure. rondo would be nice, but that's not possible, and I think Hill is a fine PG.

Yes, we can win with George Hill.

But can we win with that offense? No.

Can we win with our starting Center shooting such a low percentage? No.

Can we win with our back-up Point Guard shooting such a low percentage? No.

George Hill is not the problem.

What they said.

Also, do you not remember anything from last year? This thread is about as pointless as this Macgyver action figure....

not sure I'd say Fritz was better than Mark Jackson but he sure is the most under appreciated player from the championship teams. in any event, I'm glad to welcome someone old enough to remember him. I thought I was the only one here who saw those teams.

and Hill is not the problem. not having Granger is the problem.
