Per Ric Bucher-

Before dealing James Harden to Houston, OKC explored trading Harden to Washington and Indiana. Deal would of involved around Paul George among others for Harden. OKC picked Houston because they liked the offer more.

Thoughts?

I'll take that deal all day. Too bad though.

no way I'd do that and I'm sure the front office nixed it quickly.

Harden is at talent level that I believe Paul George will never reach. I'm not sure how why you wouldnt take that. A granger+harden wing?

Harden is nothing more than a little better Monta Ellis. He has afew great scoring games and a few horrible games. They play about the amount of defense too.

Harden is a good player, but he's not a superstar. He would be great to have, but not for Paul George. You will see in a few years.

Agreed Wizop i would rather keep PG24 he has everything you want in a player weather he can put it all together and realize it all is another matter

You basically just said why Harden is better. HArden has it all put together already, whereas George may never.

OKC is a team played in Final last season and needs more than potential. That's why they get Kevin Martin back, which could help right away.

George didn't show the scoring talent that time, so I wondered WHAT are the OTHERS that go with George for us to get Harden?

That among others part is pretty important. It's quite probable that those "others" were significant others.

So, unless we know the exact package that was proposed, I don't think that we can judge this move correctly :)

Harden has only put together the will to prove himself on the offensive side of the ball. And that's great for him.

Paul George, on the other hand, has put together the will to prove himself on the defensive side of the ball.

You cannot ignore defensive prowess when comparing those two players.

I wonder how far along the talks got. I know it was reported that the Wizards passed on a deal for Harden, but the Wizards people said the talks never really reached the level of a concrete deal being structured, but where just ideas being exchanged. And Morey supposedly tried hard and may have offered up more than he wanted for the chance to close the deal before OKC got to talk more with others. OKC was obviously also shopping around the league.

Who knows how far along the deal talks with Indiana got? Could have been just inquiries, or spitballing, or could have been more detailed specifics under negotiation. No way to tell unless someone spills the beans, and GMs and staff are usually secretive about private dealings. No one to this day knows what the specific offer between Houston and Orlando was for the proposed Dwight Howard deal. Can't really evaluate a Harden to Indiana deal without knowing the specific terms behind close doors.

With our salary limitations, we would be limited in resigning West or finding his.replacement. I do o not.think Hardrn would be that big of.upgradr to justify trading.

Harden's a great proven scorer, but I think George has a chance to be a special two-way player.

As a Wolves fan i would give you guys Kevin Love for George. The idea of playing George next to Rubio and Shved is mouthwatering to me. Plus we have Williams and Kirilenko who can man the PF spot. I wish Love keeps whining and Kahn calls Indy and makes a trade for George in the offseason. I think you would have the capspace for straight up swap if you waive rights to West and Hansbro.

We would never waive West. He's the starting PF, and he's hit the big shots at the end of games all season, he's not going anywhere.

And I think Paul George is just about as untouchable as it gets at this point. I highly doubt the front office has any intentions of trading what looks to be a future All-Star.
