Farewell, Sam Young

A quick thread to say thanks to Sam Young. He played pretty well helping fill in for Granger's absence on the wing. He had some very nice games, played with a lot of energy, worked hard, and seemed to integrate himself very well. Sad to see him go, especially when due to injury. Hopefully we can look into bringing him back next year or something.

It looks like we're cutting Sam to avoid giving him a paycheck for the rest of the season. Sam has an injury so he's getting cut.
We should see if we can get SG who can shoot the lights out to come off the bench and give us some scoring.

Well it looks like I was typing my post at the same time. Feel free to combine these.

Looks like OJ will get a shot and if he struggles they'll just start letting Hill play some 2. in any event, the minutes were going to disappear when DG returns so why pay extra.

OJ didn't play so bad last game, so I'm okay with it.

Yep, I had a thread just like this.
Hopefully Sam lands somewhere where he can get some PT once his ankle gets healthy. He played pretty well helping fill the gap left by DG's injury out on the wing, especially given Gerald Green's slow start to the season. Too bad it's likely in large part due to the ankle injury. So, hopefully he lands somewhere.
Good luck, Sam!

I am surprised. Sam Young was playing well for us, but it is money matters and I cannot say it's a bad move. Rumors are saying the Pacers could (or might) sign Dominic Mcguire.
I like Mcguire, but I am going to miss Sam Young. The guy deserves to be in the league.

I assume McGuire didn't get a contract and Sam is healthy now. with Green in the dog house, Sam might get some PT.

I was really hoping that McGuire would be a steal... but I didn't even see him play.

I'm not sure, but isn't Terrance Williams a FA? I wouldn't mind giving him a look for this role if he's in decent shape.

Young is a perfect fit on a team just like Indiana, or Chicago. Not sure if he'd fit on too many other teams as nicly as he does/would for these two. He is a perfect defender against James/Wade and takes a lot of pressure off our star players from using up too much energy covering them. Nobody can stop them, but me thinks with Young defending them, i don't think they'll explode on us like they did last year in the playoffs. Young, as he showed with his fantastic defense last week vs. the Heat, can at minimum contain them and cause them a bit of problems.
Key to a player such as Young, who plays balls to the wall defense, needs a quick step, and quick thinking, is health. When he's hurt, he's nearly useless out there. Very wise of the Pacers to bring him back once got healthy.

I don't know I'd call him a perfect defender against James/Wade but he is a good enough defender that we'll be able to rest Paul or Danny when neither James or Wade is resting. we also have the option that we didn't have last year of putting Lance on Wade. our depth should be a big problem for Miami.
