Just wondering if any progress has been made by Granger and when he/if will play. Thx.

Last I heard was late January - early Feb at best. I would highly doubt he comes back that early, and when he does he'll be on a "pitch count".

I'm wondering if he's going to be a weapon off the bench for the rest of season. Even if/when he resumes starting minutes I don't know if he'll be a starter. The 2nd unit could sure use him.

That is an interesting thought of having Granger come off the bench. But I think you would rather him out with the starters, and move back Lance Stephenson to the bench. I would hope with the confidence that Lance is playing with now, he'll be a good asset for that. If D.J. Augustin can continue his improved play, that could bode well too. It's going to be interesting to see the dynamic between Granger and George. Will George defer to Granger or will he keep playing at the All Star level he is?

I sure hope Granger is back in a week or 2 that would be early Feb. If he can play himself into shape and give us some good sf mimuntes off the bench it would be a huge boost. I think theirs a good chance he gets traded again next yr.

Need Granger back bad.

Not a chance he comes off the bench when hes back to 100%, Danny has crazy chemistry with our starting unit.

Not a chance he jumps right back into the starting lineup as soon as he is cleared to play. Vogel would be an idiot to risk another injury with him.

Yes, he will play this season. He's expected to return around the All-Star break.

Danny Granger took part in his first live-action practice today.

According to Mike Wells, Danny is running full court today with eye to make season debut on Wednesday. Very good news.

And now Wells backtracks a bit and publishes statement from Vogel that "We'd like to get him some minutes on Wednesday, but may wait until after the (All-Star) Break."

Either way, not far off.

Just adding Granger back as a spot up shooter off the bench would be a huge help for this team.

I wouldn't mind easing him back as our 6th man for his first couple of games back. Unless he simply becomes a chucker, his return will help this team tremendously.

he practiced full court yesterday so its close. probably not tonight, Wednesday very possible, and after break for sure. I'm in the bring him off the bench for now school but at some point you'll need to start him to build continuity on both units.

I think if they play him Wednesday, there's a slight chance they'll trade him before the deadline. However, if you hold him out until after the Break, there's little to no time to build up value and prove health before the deadline.

I agree. But also why not get him a few minutes to evaluate him over the break. He needs to be eased into it, why not start tonight? (I'm going tonight and can't Wednesday-so let's move it up 1 game!)

I definitely don't think it's a bad idea to see what his trade value it and if he can play 20 minutes in 2 games other NBA GMs might know more a crucial week+ sooner.

Eh, he probably just isn't physically up to going tonight, but a couple extra days of stretching/working out may make the difference for him.

Either way, I'm of the opinion that a trade of Granger is VERY unlikely during this season, but is only slightly possible if he comes back Wednesday and starts proving health.

probably not, but I don't see a lot of downside to activating Danny and sitting Green who wouldn't get off the bench anyway.

I'd say the odds against any trade involving Granger, George, Hill, Hibbert, West, Stephenson, or Mahinimi are huge. trades involving Augustin or T Hansbrough are slightly less unlikely. I doubt we're ready to give up on Johnson or Plumlee and I'd be reluctant to trade our first round pick before the draft is actually in progress and our targets are gone as there are always gems to be found in drafts that are thought to be weak.

I don't see any reason to trade OJ. He's played well for a rookie 2nd rounder. I think he has potential, although his jumper needs work; he has a hitch at the top of his shot.

Granger's return is being pushed back to next week, but only because he caught the flu over the past couple days. They'll let him rest up before he returns.
