Green v. Lance

Post#1 » by Golabki » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:56 pm

I've been surprised that Lance has looked like a viable NBA player this year.

With Granger coming back is Lance a lock to stay in the rotation as the 3rd wing, or does Green have a chance to take that role, as most expected in October?

I'm not a Pacers fans, so I'd be interested in the thoughts from this board.

With even Orlando Johnson outplaying Gerald Green, he has about a 0% chance of returning to the lineup.

Yeah, that bad. His jumpshot is off, he doesn't penetrate the defense, and he makes bad decisions with the ball. The only thing he can do this year is dunk.

Lance's D is neither here nor there. I can't say it stands out or really lacks.

Lace is much more active on D this year. Somewhat like on offense, it can help or hurt us. He's shown flashes that I never thought he would before though.

Green barely got on the floor this week in games where we had leads of over 35 points. there was never a Green v. Lance issue this year. early in the year there was a Green v. Young. v. Johnson issue but once OJ got his game together in the d-league that issue went away. Young will get some minutes when defense is required but ... gee, I should have checked the box score from last night before I started typing ... no, as it turned out it was B Hansbrough who was inactive and not Green but I bet there will be nights when Green is inactive.

Hill/Augustin(/B Hansbrough)
Stephenson/Johnson/Young
George/Granger/Green
West/T Hansbrough
Hibbert/Mahinmi/Pendergraph(/Plumlee)

the things ive seen about Lance that i like is his speed when getting the ball up the court,he does give effort when playing defence, but gets selfish and goes one on one to many times, and when we need to score at the end of the game should not be on the court over OJ,so im not sure why Frank is leaving him out there, not switching them during timeouts for offence and defence would be fine, but not leaving him out there when it gives other teams the chance to play off him is wrong

selfish? he is a remarkable passer and a great finisher. where he goes wrong in my opinion is that sometimes he tries to be fancy when simple will do. he's getting better at that though. it'll be interesting to see who is on the floor in the final minutes when Granger is healthy. I don't think it'll be OJ.
