Mock Drafts
These guys that do these mocks have to be trolling, I never read one where we don't draft a big white guy. The joke is old. nbadraft.net has us picking Ryan Kelly in round two. Seriously every draft mock I read. I'm starting to really get the feeling that most media outlets outside of Indy do not even have a clue what goes on here. Especially after that piece on the All Star break.

Re: Mock Drafts
^ 2nd round. White Euro. Not a big guy, but still. You can't tell me it's just coincidence that these guys are who they think the Pacers are going to pick, EVERY year. I think most drafts had us picking Cole Aldrich over Paul George?

Re: Mock Drafts
ESPN's mock draft is insider only? What an egomaniacal organization. I can get mock drafts for free all over the place. And theirs is usually terrible... COme to think of it, I don't want to see theirs anyway.

Re: Mock Drafts
I pretty much stand by NBAdraft.net as the only one to take seriously. The consensus for us on there? Dario Saric and Mitch McGary -_-

Re: Mock Drafts
I've followed draftexpress from the days when they used to be part of realgm. at this time of year, they tell you in the fine print that their mock drafts are only reflecting their judgment of talent and do not yet take team needs into account. that makes sense since the draft order isn't set yet and we don't know for sure which underclassmen and international players will be eligible. pay attention to who is likely to be available at the bottom of the first round but don't get too hung up on who they have listed by our name.

Re: Mock Drafts
No mock drafts are going to be accurate until closer to the draft when teams' interests and needs become more apparent.
As for the white guys always for the Pacers, I find it funny, yet sadly true.

Re: Mock Drafts
Boston always seemed to go for the best available white guy. there was a time when I worried that Bird might have picked up that trait, but ignoring some why not try 2nd round euro center picks, Tyler and Plumlee hardly seem to be an abnormal number of white guy picks for a decade.

Who cares? They don't make the actual picks.
Also, at this point, they just rank players in terms of prospects and don't take team needs into account.

Re: Mock Drafts
Mock draft sites were never accurate. But I kinda like how draftexpress evaluates and ranks the prospects better than NBAdraft.net. Another mock draft I am waiting for is Sam Amick's of Sports Illustrated, always a fun read.
Don't really like ESPN's Mock drafts, they're worst than the free ones.

Re: Mock Drafts
Besides unrealistic selections, my dream pick for the Pacers in round one is Point guard Dennis Schroeder. Kevin Pritchard loves to draft Euros if you look at this drafting history in Portland so i think it's pretty realistic and i just noticed that NBADraft.net has us taking him. He could be the steal of the draft and an excellent role player for a few seasons.
In the second round, i don't like the idea of picking Euros who never will come. I'd much rather select a senior, who will give you some reliable minutes, is mature and is NBA ready. Brendan Paul would be ok. If i had to say i had a dream guy for the second round, it'd be Micheal Snear from Florida State. Excellent defender and mega clutch player.

Re: Mock Drafts
Pritchard also likes to trade up and down and buy and sell picks. last year we bought a pick for OJ.

You can bet the Kings regret that one.

Eh, I think they've got bigger concerns on their mind than a 2nd founder who played ok. They still have Thornton and Jimmer, so there's just not room there like there is here. It's like the Hill vs Kawhi Leonard "regret" debate.

Re: Mock Drafts
Add in the fact that I highly doubt the Maloofs regret selling a pick for cash, no matter what it turned out to be.

Re: Mock Drafts
^ Yes, good point, Scoot.
But that Sacramento team needs all the talent they could get. Not to mention "cheap" talents who can eventually make players like Thornton and Salmons expendable. They are paying these guys big bucks knowing that they do not have any real possibility of a playoff berth in the near future. So why not invest on high upside rookies, save money, and look to add a legit upper tier veteran who could make the team better?
