Interest in Korver & Redick

Post#1 » by SuperReggie31 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 3:33 am

The Pacers know they need outside shooting help and would love to add Kyle Korver or J.J. Redick, both of whom will be free agents on July 1. Indiana’s other free agents are Tyler Hansbrough and D.J. Augustin, either of whom is expendable

I like the idea of having one or the another on our team.

We saw what Korver did to to us in the Atlanta series. I have always been a fan of Redick. Love him or hate him, he is a great shooter and a fierce competitor.

Thoughts?

I would like to have Korver if we fail on landing a shooter in the draft. Redick would be too expensive, and Milwaukee would probably re-sign him since Monta Ellis reportedly rejected the previous offer from the Bucks.

Pure speculation by the NYK media. It makes sense but I doubt we can afford Reddick And address our back up pg position.

Korver and Redick could be very useful but I dont think the team spends that kind of money on bench production. Additional bench scoring is needed; but I think that improves from Stephenson or Granger and whom ever the backup point guard is next season. Hopefully the team gets a guy who can be a scorer, shooter, and playmaker. Maybe the team signs a cheap 3/4 like Chris Copeland; Maybe the draft provides another option that can score and defend. Either way I dont think the Pacers spend much this off-season on free agents other than West.

Redick is probably too expensive, but Korver would be great.

I don't think we could sign either unless West walks, or we only intend to sign a vet minimum salary guy as the backup PG or draft one. Ultimately, Korver or Reddick would take up the majority of the MLE or all of it. If we sign them, we have little flexibility or tax room to fill the other needs.

Our interest in these two is probably akin to the Clippers interest in David West. Sure we would like to have one of them. But is either willing to come here and play for less than they can get from another team and sign a 1 year contract to boot?

hate them both. I have no interest in a veteran shooter who can not play and defend the point.

Not a huge fan of Korver from a needs standpoint. I like Reddick's handle though. The team desperately needs another legitimate ball-handler after Hill and Stevenson.*
As shooters go, I like Dorrell Wright and his size and defense better than either of these two even if he's a slightly less talented shooter.

Who manages to control the ball while looking like he could lose it at any second.

I waffle back and forth on whether the team could benefit from a player ot two who are capable of bringing legit improvment to our offense even though they aren't remarkable or even good defenders. Or, if to be a Pacer you simply have to be a solid two way player.

can Reddick shoot all that much better than Green? now I'll admit that Reddick has learned to be much more effective than he was in his first couple of years but Lance has a higher ceiling and OJ probably does too. I just don't see wing as the position needing depth. the problems are at point and power forward.

Yes. Not even close. He also has the mindset to work hard and at least work on defense, even if he's not great at it.

If we could dump Green and get one of these guys, I don't see why not. They're both obvious upgrades and we could use a shooter, even if he's not a great defensive player.

IF Bird returns, I guarantee the Pacers will make a strong effort at getting Redick. Bird tried for about 2 years to trade for him.

I think the Pacers can afford Redick but unless they move a contract, they will not be able to sign another FA unless it is at or near the minimum. I would love to see the Pacers unload Green and then sign Redick and Brand.

Korver would be a good second option if the Pacers can't get Redick, but based on what I have read, there is a good chance Korver will stay in Atlanta.

+1

JJ is an insane upgrade over Green. Smarter, better handle, better passer and a better defender. Not to mention JJ is one of the leagues elite shooters while Green from what I can see is remarkably over rated as a shooter.

I like Redick more than I like Korver, but I think Korver is probably cheaper...and I'm not sure we're going to have a ton of cap room to play around with unless we let Hansbrough walk.

I think Tyler is gone one way or another but, if the trade off is Tyler for a proven shooter that's a pretty easy decision for me.

Redick would fit on this roster quite well, however I think he'll demand at least 8/per. Hansbrough at 4 per would not be a good option, plus I don't think it is legal for both sides to sign then trade, could be wrong.

At this point the only logical choice is to offer Hill for him. I will pass.
