Other potential suitors for FA #Pistons PG Will Bynum: #Pacers and #Sixers.

I don't like him.

Also, he's too short, which cause some problem on defense. He's not bad playing as a back-up point guard on a lottery team, though. But in the playoff team? I not sure....
Chauncey Billups is still my first choice. The next comes to Eric Maynor, C.J. Watson, and Beno Udrih.
Btw, both Acie Law and Jordan Farmar plays well in Europe. Not a bad idea going after either of them.

Wow that hit most def wasnt anything for Tyler to kneel over about. The NBA has turned this into a league of softies. I agree on Billups as the first priority. But I like Bynum; he played well enough for the Pistons the last two seasons for them to consider benching Brandon Knight on different occasions. Bynum is a complete point guard in terms of scoring; and playmaking. The dudes got all kinds of heart.

did Billups play much this year? he seems to be close to ready to move into a front office position although if we lose Shaw maybe there is room for a player coaching arrangement with some front office training. anyone remember what year it was that Billups and Colorado killed IU in the NCAA's? Seems like a long time ago. I'm still hoping we draft a point guard with the potential to be a game changer off the bench, but I agree with the notion of also signing a veteran who can be counted on to come in and not make mistakes.

I like the idea of signing Billups to a deal, but i just don't see the logistics of it. In the shortened lockout year he only played 20 games, and this past season he played just 22. He is getting up there in age and isn't very durable at all. As Wizop said above, i think he's ready to move to a front office position. He was on ESPN First Take just recently to talk Finals and other NBA topics, and he didn't sound like a guy ready to prove he can be a impact player, but he talked as if he was an outsider. If he was the only risk on our team, it'd be worth a chance. Someone like Miami would be a great fit for him. But, we don't even know what will happen with Granger's health once he returns. Playing 20 games and then figuring out Granger and Billups are consistently missing games due to injuries could be a killer to the team.

Not a fan of Bynum, I'd rather look elsewhere.
But I'm not sure Billups is the answer... Maybe Billups of 2 years ago, but he's at ring-chasing age with little to contribute anymore.

Bynum had a nice season, the best of his career, no doubt. But this was the first season he's had where he'll be coveted at all. A la Gerald Green. Just sayin'. For some reason, his season smells of "contract year."

If we can get Farmar for a short and cheap contract, I would prefer him over Bynum.

Farmar would be tough since he's making 5 mil a season overseas right now.
Bynum would be fine if he came cheap. He's pretty good getting into the lane, which could be a nice change of pace for this team.
I personally don't really want Billups. He's basically done. I guess it may be fine if he was more like a Jason Kidd type from this past season, but I doubt it. He still seems to want to take a lot of shots and can't play D anymore. I know lots of Clippers fans believe their team would have done better if Billups wasn't getting as many minutes.

I'm starting to think that classic point guard skills may not be what we need. I see Granger and George leaving 24 to 32 wing minutes for Lance and Hill. Lance is a semi-point guard. he can get the ball upcourt and he can run. a backup at point who can run and hit from outside when West and Hibbert kick it back out fits the bill more than a break down the defense guy. I think we can find what we need in the draft. there is the veteran steady hand role but I don't see that as Bynum.

A Billups and Erick Green duo would be pretty solid off the bench.

Green and lance or hill should work too. Worry that billups could be like Kidd on Knicks. Andre miller? Do like idea of rookie and vet on way down.

There isn't any way Lance can be a PG for an extended period of time. He makes horrible decisions, goes iso too often, and doesn't have the best handling skills (albeit better than Hill at some times).
I think Billups is too far declined to make any sort of impact, but Andre Miller would work.

Didn't mean lance should be point. Think he is a good enough passer to play with a scoring point like green. Also he pushes so well that pressure shouldn't be problem even though neither great ball handler.

Chauncey Billups should be solid next season wherever he plays; especially if it as a backup point guard. He's in his 30's coming off several injuries playing out of position at the 2 for the Clips. He in an interview said that he would work this summer to come back ready to compete next season. His big shot capabilities and big game composure is exactly what the Pacers need off the bench; and more specifically behind a guy like George Hill whos still trying to find himself as a point guard. This team is in a position where vet minimum "ring chasers" should be appealing considering the cap challenges that will be present going forward after signing West; and maxing George. Not to mention the team is already loaded with guys who dont have much experience and dont necessarily know what it takes to win a championship. Those role playing vets are the reason the two teams (ie. Spurs; and Heat) are competing for a championship; while the teams loaded with young talent and bright futures are watching (ie. Warriors; Nuggets; and sad to say our Pacers).
