Post#1 » by Grang33r » Wed Jul 3, 2013 10:01 pm

Didn't expect to see this.

per multiple media on twitter.

Good for Stevens and the Celtics. Before Vogel, i wanted Stevens to be our next head coach.

Impressive they were able to keep this quiet the whole time.

Great hire for Boston. Brad deserves the chance.

Butler has a big challenge stepping up to the Big East without him. I hope they'll continue their tradition of hiring their own assistants.

Brad will have a big challenge getting NBA players to play team ball. We did it though. So do the Bulls. I wouldn't bet against Brad.

Wow...not sure what to say or even think outside of bewilderment. Great hire for Boston...Id bet the farm he is successful but huge loss to Butler and the D1 basketball as a whole. At a time when their are such disconcerting issues such as "amateurism," one and dones, scandals, ect., Brad was such a good figure for D1 basketball. Heck, even NCAA sports as a whole. I don't want to follow Boston but probably will be forced to now. I never saw this coming. My guess is that Ainge offered him a godfather deal because he truly appeared to be 100% vested in Butler.

6 year/ $20+ million. Gotta give it a shot. Can't skip out on the Boston Celtics, at least with a GM that has shown he's willing to do what it takes to win.

Thats an offer that he couldnt refuse. 6 years is great job security in this day and age. Its crazy how often coaches and players move these days. Hopefully Butler can continue in the team-first winning culture he developed there. I wont be tuned into the Celts; but I hope he is able to prove he is worth every penny.

I'm not worried for Butler. Yeah, brad was the best of the bunch, but they've had similar coaching production for awhile now. Collier, Matta, and Todd Lickliter have all produced great results. Stevens took it to a new level, but they'll keep the Hinkle Butler Way going and probably still shock some people.
