Armstrong cut; Butler remains

Roster is set to 14. Armstrong is out. I guess with the known, it makes sense to keep Butler around.

Release of Hilton Armstrong not at all surprising. Larry Bird told me having a third center (behind Roy and Ian) "doesn't matter."[/Tweet]

the star yesterday had pictures of all the players and had Armstrong rather than Butler. Pacers.com has story about Butler making the team and no mention of Armstrong that I can find except the roster on the site lists the 14 so I'm sure you are right. star has a similar story and reports Armstrong gone. Butler will likely get some time at 3 if Danny's leg keeps him out. I don't think they see Copeland as a 3 and aren't yet ready to through Solo into the deep end.

On some instances where Copeland tried to defend small forwards in the pre-season, he looked too slow.
IMO, Solo can and probably will play some time at the 3, when he is in the court with either Lance or OJ. And he will play 2 when he's in with Paul George or Butler. He's taller than Lance and OJ, and he's got a stronger body.

So with Granger still having some issues with his knees, us keeping Butler was not a surprise. Though it looks like we'll go into the season with a roster spot open, I still think a 5th big may come in handy like Lawal or Amundson. But eh, we're probably fine with our bigs.

Boy, I really hope we'd throw Solo out there and give him a shot. Isn't that why you draft a senior that's a back to back 1st team All-PAC player?

Just read on the Pacers website that the Pacers are actually looking at Rasual Butler to be the Juwan Howard of the team. I was hoping the Pacers would make him more of the Mike Miller but anyways, I agree we need someone like him to help keep the young guys on ground.

Of course, but it's a 82 game season. Even Larry Bird said around the start of training camp, that as long as he keeps working hard and improving, he may see the court around Christmas time (other then garbage time). Then in the first game, he's one of the first off the bench. Dont get me wrong, i want him to play and but i dont really believe in rushing people. And he looked lost.

I agree, I too would like to see Solomon Hill get some play to see if he has it in him to put in a productive year. How much could it hurt?
