The Pacers' gloating/celebrating is hilarious.

Post#1 » by JohnnyNightrain » Sat Nov 9, 2013 4:34 am

Man, this team is hilarious to watch. Why do they act like they just won the Super Bowl after almost every shot? Tonight, Hibbert hit a basket at the end of the half, a basket that didn't put them up or even tie, and then he started prowling around the court, staring down the crowd, like some pro wrestler. And why does Paul George start scowling and tugging on his jersey after every basket? And Lance Stephenson... ha. It's too funny.

Is it bad that they are excited about winning and making shots?

So if I get this straight you are gloating because the team has chemistry and desire? Jealousy isn't pretty my friend.

What's wrong with it? It shows confidence and how together they are

I didn't say it was bad, but comedy is comedy. Paul George hits a shot three minutes into a game and, for whatever reason, decides to run around grabbing his jersey to show everyone he is number 24. And Hibbert, who has barely been cracking double figures, stares at his own hand, a la Shaq, after scoring 20? Ha ha. It's just funny. I hope they never stop. I hope they start shooting off confetti canons after every made free throw, just to take it up a level.

they are having fun. that's a good thing. as for pulling out the front of his jersey, that's a team thing as the team name is on the front and a player's name is on the back. compare ex-Colt Pierre Garcon who points to the back of his jersey after scoring.

It is evident that the guys are more confident in their ability as a team. And Paul George is up another level for sure.

Last game with Chicago, Stephenson was not really playing well for most of the game but the team made chances for him to get into the rhythm and it paid off. Im happy these guys know each other and what everyone is capable of. Not really a bad thing to me and I'm sure the topic starter means no disrespect. As long as it helps them in their games, it's fine.

They were definitely gloating, but why not? They're playing the best basketball in the league, and they're all young guys. Nothing wrong with being excited IMO.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with gloating/celebrating, but it is hilarious. However, if Miami was doing this kind of thing, everyone would be throwing a fit.

Now, though, it looks like it's carrying over into the realm of taunting...

Playing some good ball. Just going to anger all the rest of the EC teams. Which is why Pacers aren't making it past the 2nd round. Fueling too much of the Nets/Heat/Bulls

FWIW, I as a Pacer and Lance fan hated that. He's a young, firey player, those things happen. But it's still wrong.

It seems to have worked so far for the Bulls and Nets.

so playing well is going to anger the rest of the teams and cause them to beat us? is that what you meant to say? sure didn't get the Heat beaten in prior years.

I suppose though you intended to say that our youthful exuberance is going to create some bulletin board material. do you really think that matters? as the conference leader aren't we going to get everyone's A game anyway? and in the long run won't a season of playing everyone at their best just help us be ready for the playoffs?

Swagger. Take it or leave it. It's fueling this team much more than it could fuel any opponent.

I haven't watched the pacers play at all this year so i'm just going to say this:

I've followed LeBron pretty much his whole career and the showboating doesn't help winning - at all.

his cavs teams used to 'have fun' by doing all the excessive celebrating and whatnot and it gives the team a different mentality, they seem to focus on the small victories and not the big one. his heat team did the same thing in 2011, to a lesser extent.

look at the best teams now. the spurs and heat are all business, the thunder are pretty good for not over-celebrating too. it's not that they aren't having fun (it actually looks like the heat are having a ton of fun) but they rarely celebrate.

i'm not knocking the pacers for having fun, i'm just trying to say that you have to be serious to win a championship, and if that is the pacers' goal then they are eventually going to have to settle down and be serious to reach their goal.
