Im still in disbelief we lost this game. As a fan I hate watching the team lose especially games like this one. After watching us lose against Detroit; Portland and tonight (all close clutch moment games) I have come to the conclusion that I dont think this team is quite ready to win a championship. They dont execute offensively very well in late game situations; which might I add they will be in a lot of these situations in the playoffs. Also this is the reason I stated sometime ago that Stephenson is and will be more valuable than George Hill. And if they lose Lance it will hurt much more than if they move Hill. I can make an argument that Watson has been as good as Hill when he's started games. And he is much cheaper. Not to mention Jarrett Jack got less money to play on the Cavs Bench. I can make an argument that Jack is as good if not better. I know a lot of Pacer fans including myself like having the hometown hero on the team as the starting point guard. And I think it would make it that much sweeter if they can win it all with Hill. I also felt this way about Hansborough; But Scola is what was really needed. And another reality is that they need a better more reliable playmaker on offense. This team is probably unstoppable if the point guard is a little better offensively.

I've said this from the beginning we need a better point guard he's not even getting 4 assist a game and he our starting point guard just not good

Pacers are going to have to learn how to put a stop to a run by the Heat or whomever. I recall this was a major priotity to the 09 Lakers after losing the 08 finals. Can't let teams go off on 12-0 runs.. Need to keep the crowd out of it and get better and stop a run when the other team starts one.

I thought the Pacers did excellent under the circumstances without Hibbert. Yes you should had won, but the playoffs are a long ways. Getting granger back should even make them more potent.

Stop the presses. I mentioned that the Pacers could use a better point guard than Hill weeks ago, and some Pacer fans were acting like I was killing baby seals with pitchforks. How dare I even contemplate it.

Now, maybe some people are starting to see the light?

Having said that, I think it is way too early in the season to worry. While Hill is definitely a mediocre ball handler/distributor (and of course that is probably the primary function of the point guard), the game was lost by poor bench play.

Yes, the same thing that killed them last year. A weak bench. You just aren't going to win with Mahinmi and Watson going 2 out of 11.

And Hibbert only getting 3 shots. What is the coach getting paid for? Shouldn't he call a time out and kind of remind everyone that maybe it might help to win the game if we got Roy a few shots? Poor coaching to say the least.

Get Granger back and integrated into the lineup by the end of the year and I believe that the Pacers can still be the team to beat. But my guess is that Hill will be need to be sitting on the bench in that last critical 8 or 10 minutes of the game when every possession counts.

But if Granger can't come back and be a real contributor by the playoffs, maybe the Pacers do need to look to upgrade at point guard.

Why are people panicking? It was a tough loss, especially as we laid the table to win it, but we played the champions with Hibbert in foul trouble and a referee cock-up on the last play.

I am as gutted as anyone else, but there is plenty of time to iron these things out.

I'm not ready to throw any individual player under the bus, Hill included. we just haven't learned how to win close games yet and this shouldn't have even been close. where's Andrew Luck when you need that 4th quarter mentality?

that said, I now think I know the answer to the Granger vs Stephenson question and the answer is both. I think for part of the game we play Danny at 3, Paul at 2, and Lance at 1.

Assuming Granger can come back and be a solid contributor, Hill will need to be on the bench down the stretch. George, Stephenson, and Granger will need to be in when it counts. Hill's ball handling ability (or lack there of) are just too much of a liability when every possession counts down the stretch in a tight game.

That doesn't mean that Hill is "thrown under the bus". He could still be a starter and play 30 minutes per game. He brings a lot to the table in many areas of the game. He is just a little lacking in the primary point guard role.

To me, the key to the Pacers is going to be how well Granger can play come playoffs time.

I was absolutely disgusted with the ending to this game. So clearly a foul yet we received a distinct no-call. Maybe it is just me but I get the feeling we are playing a 5v6 game every time we go to Miami. That 6th guy on the court is a collective reference to the striped guys that provide a poor service while down in Miami yet return to professional form when performing elsewhere. It doesn't matter to me whom the calls benefit but rather that the calls are correct. For me, it doesnt matter how wonderful the talent is on the court if the officiating is going to be biased. I'm a huge fan of basketball in general but NBA officiating has me to a point that if it weren't for my love of the Pacers and a lack of year round college ball, I'd never watch another NBA game. The stars need to be officiated in the same manner as the twelfth man on the roster. Refs need to be held accountable for their officiating as well.
