Well, we are trying to play to our strengths tonight. It might not be enough, though.

I'm seeing some positive signs tonight. The team is really trying. That said, the Spurs are too good. It could not be enough tonight.

There goes the 60 win season. We are losing games at the wrong time... Right before the playoffs.

It's sad seeing this knowing that when we play well we can beat this team. We proved it earlier this year when we blew them out at their place.

Forgot to record the game and it was not on league pass cause it was on NBA TV.
Did turner get hurt? Only played 6 mins and butler got 20. And I guess clearly some garbage time in the game and Copeland only gets 3 mins?

Zach Lowe "Indy just a broken record of bad spacing, awkward rhythm, ugly turnovers"

And the Spurs did not play well in that game. In fact they did not play well at all.

I can't remember a stretch where we were this poor offensively since before the Murphy/Dunleavy/Granger era... I am getting close to taking down my post defending Vogel, the more I look with negativity glasses the more obvious it becomes that there is something really wrong there.

Right - just rewatched the third quarter. There is not a lot wrong with our starting 5 offensively in that stretch. West looked out of sorts, but the others were all performing to an acceptable level. We took it inside a lot more and that lead to a stretch where we found the outside three as well as several paint-points for Roy.

So that really does leave the bench exposed. They scored 2... two points in the first half. Didn't think I'd say this, but we could do with Bynum now. Mahinmi really needs to be told to stop interfering inside, he should just set screens and roll when appropriate or pop to allow the driver to have an extra outlet. Sloan needs to take more risks going inside, he had a nice drive in the third that showed he can get inside and score. Use that weapon, you have it.

I would like to see West rested for a couple of games. Just to ensure he stays fresh enough. We can put Cope and Lavoy in for a few games as cover and see if we can use them in the play-offs. I am worried that Vogel has already decided on his play-off rotation and excluded both from his plans, too soon imo.

What I really liked was seeing George talk to Scola and West: Get open when I have the ball! As Denari remarked, that is something we haven't seen before. George is still growing into his role as offensive leader and he is beginning to get better and better at it. He still has a few games to really take control of offense and I think he might well enable us to turn things around.

And another addition to this increasingly rambling post: (Watching the fourth).

This is where I think we are tired. The middle of the fourth quarter we have most of our starters on and still the Spurs race to double their lead to 71-91. That was bad defense in combination with bad offense, the only reason that happens is because there are guys playing at 80%. Vogel was too late taking Butler off, too soon putting West back in. Popovich killed Vogel's rotation by having Diaw - here is a guy that can make an offense work like no-one else and has learned to do it from the bench, but he has learned to do that because the Spurs have a solid offensive plan. Strong and repeated cutting, good inside/out play. It was like they were dancing around Roy because our wing players were either tired or out of position due to great in/out passes.

didn't play in the second half. don't know if he was hurt or just benched. the Star says benched. hope so. it's about time PT stopped being guaranteed.
