Those calling for Vogel's head (ESPN was suggesting firing Vogel in favor of Mark Jackson), looks like it's not happening this offseason.

Press conference supposedly set for Monday. I'm comfortable with him saying. I'm fully convinced that Bird fired Isiah after one phone call because he didn't accept any responsibility for the prior season's problems. If I'm right about that, then it is reasonable to assume that Vogel and Bird have talked and agreed on a plan.

A press conference just to announce that he's staying?

It does seem a little weird, and I don't think I've seen any other team do that, but during the Hawks series, it was generally agreed upon that Vogel was coaching for his job. Same for the Wiz. If we didn't win those 2 series, we'd be having a press conference announcing the signing of Mark Jackson.
Just move to show the world Bird's confidence in Vogel probably.

Well of you don't hire a new coach you need to shake up the roster.
Wish you all the best for the upcoming season!

if you could hire a clear upgrade maybe. But who is a clear upgrade? Mark Jackson, I don't think so. Probably way too much ego to fit in one management team. If they did replace Frank I look at Fred Hoiberg.
I think the Ppacers would look silly firing Frank Vogel. Do you fire someone for meeting reasonable expectations? Because that is what the team did.

I hope Bird has made clear that Vogel is responsible for the under-performing of the bench and the lack of stamina in the starting five. I hope he makes clear that he expects to see a better offensive system in place, designed to be flexible and adaptable and I hope he makes it clear that the coach is expected to have some form of control over the players on and off the court.
I also hope we get shut of MacMillan, whose influence has been lacking all round in my opinion, and hire an assistant that is actually going to help achieve those hopes.

an end of season press conference is normal. announcing that Vogel is staying is just one topic.

After watching game 1 of the NBA finals I noticed that Vogel installed/used the spurs offense against Miami; They were running the same offense except for Pops worked better because Parker and Ginobili completed the pick and roll pass to Duncan and with the defense (2 guys) shifted to the top of the high pick and roll Duncan either had a layup or hit one of the corner shooters for three. Pretty simple but effective offense. Also if they go under the screen then Parker or Ginobili will kill them with open medium range jumpers so its kind of like pick your poison. For whatever reason when Paul and Lance ran the pick and rolls Miami blitzed them and we couldnt get the ball moved to the right guy for the open shot. Another major difference is that the Spurs have multiple solid defenders to guard Wade and James (Diaw; Green; Leonard); and the bench guys punish the Heat defense when their open especially from three. This is particularly the reason Granger had more value than Turner. Hopefully Frank can watch this and make the necessary tweaks; along with a few new wrinkles to the offense for next season.
