No big men in the Thursday workouts. Looks like most of these guys are possible replacements to Evan Turner.

Out of the group who worked out, I like Dawkins the most. But if we need a shooter, I'd prefer to look more into the free agency.

Appling is nice, but he looks like another CJ Watson to me.
McAdoo, I don't like him that much, could end up pretty serviceable though.

Out of friday's workouts, I like Russ Smith the most. The guy was always electric at Louisville, played like Lance to be honest. Kendall Williams isn't bad, not much of a floor general though, pretty much a combo guard. Sheehey is sheehey, I don't even know what he'd be able to do in the NBA.

Sheehey would likely play a lot like Kyle Singler or Jared Dudley. Mostly a 3 and D guy, who will D anywhere from PG to a smaller SF (no Lebron's, Durant's, Melo's, etc). Should be undrafted, and will likely be in an NBA camp. His ability to defend will likely get him a lot further than Watford into the NBA.

Russ Smith. I see him in a Jason Terry mold type of player, an SG/PG combo guard who can score, but not really a playmaker. Would be glad if we take him with the 57th pick.

If we can get any sort of a contributor or a prospect with decent potential with the 57th pick I'll be ecstatic. I'm really hoping we can move into the late first or early second round though.

For what it's worth, here's what these guys are mocked in Draftexpress' mock draft:
Davion Berry - #52
Russ Smith - #47
DeAndre Daniel - #46
Xavier Thames - #98
Will Sheehey - #56
Kendall Williams - #96

So it seems everyone of these guys is in play for our pick and that the Pacers are fully prepared to stick with 57 in the draft. Besides, what exactly do we have to offer to get into the 1st round? Luis Scola? Solomon Hill? We don't exactly have tradeable assets...

A Sheehey pick would definitely sell some tickets, that's for damn sure. He was a hero at IU. Maybe that's enough value in itself to spend a 2nd round flier on him?

I still don't see him having any real longevity in the NBA though. He made his plays at IU because he was bigger, faster, and more explosive than anyone else on the court. That's not going to be the case in the NBA. He'll be relegated to a spot up shooter... and is he good enough of a long range shooter to even do that?

Oh, I love Will, but don't get me wrong. He's not really a candidate to be drafted. He'll be an undrafted guy in camps, and it will all come down to how well he's hitting the 3 and how well he can defend throughout camp and pre-season. Even then, he's a 13-15th roster spot guy, not a rotation guy.

Dawkins is a great shooter. I'd like to see the Pacers buy a 2nd round pick and get a big too. These 2nd round guys can help fill out a roster without going out and paying $3 million for a guy like Cope who barely played.

Wow. The Noah workout must be a courtesy from his agent. No way we get up that high to net him....right?

I would assume so given that he's damn near a lock for the 5th pick after Parker, Embiid, Wiggins, and Exum, and Utah has the 5th pick.. I guess maybe Bird is looking into trading Hibbert to Utah... but more likely, like you said, it's just a courtesy because he went to IU.

Yeah, I assume a courtesy in case Bird has interest in trading/signing him down the road. Sometimes, just having a history with a guy in terms of working him out makes it more likely that they float around awhile longer if they don't hit it off right away in the NBA.

Saw a mock with us taking Semaj Christon. I think I've caught all the Butler/Xavier games the last two years and I've always been impressed with this guy. The knocks on him decisions, turnovers and his shot. He probably should have stayed in school. But, a Semaj pick has some Lance Stephenson flavor to it. Definately a project with correctable flaws. We've had a pretty good track record in the area of player development over the years.

This guy has the physical tools to play pg in the League. As a prospect there's more upside here than Donald Sloan. At 57 this is a nice flier.
