Detroit has moved on from him it seems, but Stuckey has declined pretty hard recently. Don't think he's starting caliber anymore.
Edited title to reflect signing on 7/16. - Scoot McGroot

^ He had a decent season last year, but yeah, he's not a starter type IMO. Still no perimeter shooting. Would be a good scorer of the bench though.

I was really excited to see this. He's an outstanding ball-handler and could be a really nice 15 minute guy alongside CJ Watson. Watson was the only quality handle in the 2nd unit last year.
I worry a lot about the Pacers lack of handling ability. And decision making ability... I worry...

if we're signing a small guard, I'd want someone with enough speed to stay in from of Teague.

Apparently, Stuckey is still meeting with the Pacers tomorrow. Don't know why, as we only have vet minimum left to use. Unless we orchestrate a S&T.

Maybe Detroit likes Copeland? Might explain some of the other moves to get shooters?

That wouldn't get us room to keep Lance. At that point, I'd rather keep Cope.

I dont think Stuckey fits. I would prefer Jameer Nelson.

I don't think we have interest in Stuckey if we're able to resign Lance. But, if we don't Pacers need another 2 who can handle the ball. Stuckey fits that description. Wouldn't be shocked if the meeting was postponed until Lance's situation clears. Heck, maybe it's a good sign. Not much to discuss if Lance is coming back, lots to talk about if he isn't.

There's no way to get Stuckey except in a S&T via Lance or the Granger TPE. We've used the MLE and the BAE. There's only vet minimums if we are signing them. Otherwise, it has to be a trade.

Is there a reason a sign and trade of Stuckey (signed for 3 mil/ yr) can't be traded straight up for Copeland? Assuming we know Lance is no longer attainable.

It hurts our depth at the big spots, especially since we may have to still waive Scola. Also, would Detroit even want Copeland? They already have a glut at the PF spot that they are having trouble clearing up. Can't imagine they want to add to it.

Stuckey was making about the same money we are offering Lance. I don't see how we'd want him unless he took a big pay cut. we do have trade exemptions though which would let us do some deals without the money being equal.

No matter where he goes, Stuckey is taking a big paycut. Joe Dumars ain't handing out contracts this summer.
