Well here's the upgrade at PG we've been looking for.

Doubt it happens. Besides George, there is no one the Suns would want. Im sure they were trying to offer hill and hibbert but thats a laughable offer.

No way the Suns would want anything to do with Hibbert...
The latest is that they're working with Suns and Celtics on the 3 team trade that would involve the Suns moving Rondo. No word on who the Pacers would pass off.
Question, anyone willing to take on the G-Wallace albatross if the spoils include either Rondo or Dragic? I'm just curious since I assume that the C's are looking to hang that on any Rondo takers.
I wish ESPN would update the trade machine already.

maybe Hibbert to Boston and Dragic to us but if we unloaded Hibbert we should have room to keep Lance and then why would we need a point guard ... unless GHill is in the deal too. you can find some musing on

Im concerned about this trade because Phoenix got the better end of the trade already once with Indy and Im not sure what bait would or could be used to acquire Dragic but I personally dont think he fits the Pacers style of play. Im not sure I would give up West; Hibbert; or certainly not PG24 for Dragic. Maybe Hill and a first and even then I think I would rather go after Rondo.

The pacers need to do something good cause the wing spot is pretty bad right now the only bright spot is PG

There is nothing to this from the Suns standpoint.

Suns are in the Lebron chase. small odds but if they were to land one of the top free agents, they might need to take some drastic steps to make room.

I hope this is true. Dragic has been great in the Suns uptempo style; I dont think he fits in a half court offensive system.

If Hibbert's going out we could turn into an uptempo style team. I don't see who else we could be offering that'd come close to making anyone listen. I'd imagine the idea would be to send Hibbert + picks or whatever else elsewhere, get Dragic, and use the savings to hopefully keep Lance.
It would change our team a ton, but we know Bird will do it if he thinks its the right move. I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that the Heat may be done as a real powerhouse (either from James leaving or them not getting top tier help this offseason) and we need to abandon the grind it out defensive style. Or maybe he thinks Vogel's good enough defensively to make a roster work well enough without a center like Hibbert but he needs to have more offensive weapons to offset his failings on that side.

That concerns me. Indy had the leagues top defense for the last 2-3 seasons and a good portion of last season mostly because of Hibbert. They are a contender because of the defense they play; if Hibbert is traded; and they become an offensive team; i would question whether they would be better than the Wizards. Certainly couldnt compete with Chicago if they obtain Melo and Rose comes back. An identity change for this team would possibly put Vogel in a situation where he may not be as successful. There are a lot of reasons why an identity change could hurt this team; The only one why it could help; is to score more. Not sure thats a good enough reason to make this deal if it includes Hibbert; West; or George. And just like you said theres no other bait there to use to get Dragic after a hot year.

I am lukewarm on this. I like Dragic but I really don't see the Pacers tearing up the core for him. And I think Larry does not have to do major moves to make up for the possible loss of Lance. I believe George Hill's play degraded because Vogel wanted Lance to run the offense. But that does not mean Hill is an incapable point guard.
I still see the Pacers making the conservative approach and this one is just more of an inquiry.

So I'm not the only one that thinks having The Lance dribble the ball between his legs until 13 or so seconds have ticked off the clocked and his teammates have started standing around wondering what's going to happen is NOT a good way to run possessions?

By the way, if the eventual target is Rondo I'm all kinds of ways of on board with that.

I think so. Well, it's good to have someone who can make plays and it is evident Lance's "unpredictability" was somehow a good fit on both ends of the floor. It has its downside of course, even catastrophic at times. But Lance will only get better in time and the front office sees that potential.
But in case we lose Lance, I think we are pretty fine with George Hill as our point guard and the primary playmaker. Eitherway, I don't think the Pacers are going to deal away key pieces this offseason.

so who plays shooting guard? It's crazy how people think this team can still win with the same players every year and now that we might be losing the second best player we have. Something needs to happen we have no point guard at all hill is a horrible point guard an should only be a 6th man

I think without Lance PG should play shooting guard. some combination of Solo, Cope, the Euro, and a player to be named later can play the 3.

If we lose Lance and no one else is brought in, I would put my money on CJ Miles starting at SG for us. Hill-Miles-George-West-Hibbert.
Or I guess you could name Watson the starting PG and move Hill to SG too. Watson-Hill-George-West-Hibbert

Do you think we will be in the ECF two straight years if not for these same guys? We can speculate all we want if a monstrous deal is coming, but the likelihood of Larry tearing the team up to make up for the lost of the 2nd best player is quite unlikely. Possible but unlikely. By doing that, we'd be generating more holes to fill. It is not the end of the world if Lance leaves, and I think finding his replacement is easier than finding replacements for the other positions. Paul George can slide to the shooting guard position if needed. And George Hill is too expensive not to play major minutes.

Well, there's no 2 guard on the roster right now...
So much hatred for George Hill, I don't remember this when the offense was clicking for the first 40 or so games of the season because Hill was initiating most of the possessions. Once he was taken off the point the offense started to struggle. I don't think that was a coincidence. Players move when Hill initiates. Everyone stands around when The Lance or PG initiate. Just because his assist totals aren't huge doesn't mean he's not setting up the offense.
I do wish he could shoot a bit more though.
You can't put Paul George at the 2 until he can handle the ball as well as he thinks he can. His dribbling worries me.
Orlando Johnson is available from what I hear. He'd probably plug into the 2nd unit pretty well.
