Pacers S&T Stephenson to a 4 year 8.5, 9.5, 10 & 11 contract to Raptors & get Ross, Hansbrough & Buycks.
Why Ross is already a good 3D player on a rookie salary, 2.8 million, Hansbrough on a reasonable 3.3 million and can be moved, Buycks .8 million on team option but decent 3rd option. Pacers get flexibility to be under the luxury cap by moving Hansbrough and releasing Buycks.
Why for Toronto it makes them immediately stronger Lance starts at SG and DeMar @ SF.

I don't see what we get out of it. Ross may be nice, but it doesn't give flexibility to sign and trade a player.

We've offered Lance more than that, and so far, that's simply not enough for him. If he would sign that 4 year deal, he'd already be a Pacer, we'd waive Scola, and be fine. Nothing else to do.
Otherwise, Hansbrough and Buycks would be waived right away, so it's S&T'ing Lance for Ross. Ross is an interesting guy who started to play well last year. If Indy were looking for a low cost SG on a rookie deal for another 2 years, he'd be a good option, and this deal would make sense. Ultimately, Lance is clearly better, and if he'd take that deal, he'd already be a Pacer. Unfortunately, this discussion is probably just not likely.

The difference is that you offered 5 years 44 Million & Toronto would offer 4 years 40 million since as a S&T can't be 5 years it is really $51 or $52 million for 5 years a significant difference. Plus Lance is a gamble whether he can be controlled or not. The unfortunate thing is that Larry the Legend went out and signed players to take you to almost the cap. Waiving Scola saves 3 million and reality wise the rest of your players haven't much trade value other than PG & West.

I like Ross and Hans is a known factor for us. But Lance thinks he's worth more than that money. I think it's gonna take a 5 yr deal starting at $9.7 with an ETO after y2 and 5% raises, lance can opt out after y2 or stay in and make some good money.
Also I don't see lance wanting to go to Canada.

Unfortunately, Hans is guaranteed now, too. So that's a big negative.

l think Toronto like everyone else who would enter the Lance Sweepstakes will need to come up with an offer in excess of what Indiana can afford. Once someone does that to Indiana the Pacers move to salvage mode. Getting anything close to value for Lance is out the window.
If I knew Lance was gone one way or the other I'd be pretty happy if somehow we were able to get a talent like Ross back in return.

Your right that it's a little more. I looked too quickly and thought it was 5.

From a raptors fan perspective, I like Stephenson, I think he's great, but I also think he's a bad fit next to Derozan.

I personally would rather Indy have the cap space to sign a couple vet min guys than take a trade like that. Ross is talented but he doesnt fit what Indy needs. Also I dont think its such a good idea to help Toronto in any way shape or form. Lance is a free agent; if he signs elsewhere; it would be better to sign a one year deal with a vet min guy and use the draft next year to upgrade. Only way I entertain a trade like this is if a first round pick is involved. Otherwise Lance is better than all three of those guys put together.
