Re: Greg Monroe
More Hibbert shopping. There's a thread on the general board on this one with Pistons fans not interested in pairing Hibbert and Drummond. I still like Hibbert and think his contributions get overlooked since they're so wrapped up on the defensive side of the ball. Given where the team will be next year though I'm not opposed to a move just to shake things up. I do think that if a deal like this went down, it would be really exciting to see what Hibbert could do for Drummond. Imagine Hibbert's knowledge of where to be defensively combined with Drummond's athleticism. That could be nuts. For us, I like Monroe, but he's a completely different kind of player. You're basically hoping he turns into Al Jefferson and can score in the post.

Re: Greg Monroe
For Detroit this would be even more stupid than signing JSmith.
I would be at 5/60 for Greg.
Maybe to expand we could do:
Hibbert/Hill <--> Monroe/Jennings/+3 mill filler (protected 1st/Bynum/singler)
This is good value for selling to a team with a beast at C already, but Bird really, really, really, really needs to be patient here. Soon a team that actually needs a healthy all star caliber C will come crawling. He needs to understand that Det and Pho are the ones in a bind. 2014-15 is a throw away season for the Pacers anyway, while the Suns and pistons have to improve.
I am also not so sure that Bird isn't just returning calls to previous suitors, and not so much shopping him like the media insinuates.

Re: Greg Monroe
I dont think Hibbert is the chip in this deal. Its probably David West and additional players or picks. To me that would make more sense especially for Detroit. Why would Van Gundy agree to a deal for a Hibbert/Drummond Front court. Two starting caliber centers who are best used as centers? Monroe a former Georgetown product is friends with Hibbert. I could see Indy trying to pair them making more sense than a trade of Hibbert for Monroe. The tweet that started this rumor states...
This is a very empty statement. This doesnt allude to who was involved in the talks. He's just going off the Hibbert for Dragic article to say Indy is shopping Hibbert. The only way this makes any sense is if another team was on the call making it a three way.
Lots of chatter about Greg Monroe today. Pacers shopping Hibbert and a source tells me they have called the Pistons about him. All I know.

Re: Greg Monroe
Well, the discussion came out yesterday or so when a midday Detroit sports radio DJ tweeted it as news. Turns out, it appears he was most likely using a tweet from a sports parody twitter account as his "source".
I imagine the Pacers called at some point for due diligence. I don't see any way for these two teams to match up for a deal, though.

Yeah you have to think David makes more sense for Monroe than Hibbert, Hibbert and Drummond on the court together is just too crazy.

Re: Greg Monroe
I gotta agree, West makes a ton more sense. A straight swap would be nice.

We made it to the ECF two years in a row, and I don't relish the idea of losing any more of the players that helped us get there.

Re: Greg Monroe
I've had this idea in my head for quite some time now that Bird's vision for this team going forward will have Greg Monroe and Robin Lopez in the front court. Not sure how that would work for us getting them both, but i just feel like Monroe is more suited for our offense and Lopez is the "stay at home" defender and a Jeff Foster-type workhorse that could really work on this team.

Re: Greg Monroe
A story on the wire says Monroe just accepted his QA. So he'll be unrestricted next season, I'd expect him to get traded at some point before the season is over. Pistons are gonna want to get something out of him.

That's hard to see. As part of accepting the Qualifying Offer, the team trading for him WILL NOT receive his bird rights as well, meaning they cannot exceed the cap to sign him. It would take pure cap space. As a result, Monroe has the right to veto any trade this year.
