It's a new season fellas, but we might be opening with one of the worst games of basketball... ever? We're missing half our team, and they are the Philadelphia 76ers missing MCW and Embiid.

I did my best with the game thread, was a little short on time tonight.

Here's to another season.

Nice thread, thanks.

Rotoworld reported that Soloman will start at sf.

I don't expect much but at least our opener is winnable.

Yeah, just read Solo is starting. I guess Vogel is hoping Cope brings automatic offense off the bench? I don't even care, because this season (especially early) is all about tweaking and seeing what works until we heal up.

Also, does anybody have a report of the attendance at the game? I just saw an Instagram post a few minutes ago and it was as Whittington led the players out, there was hardly anyone there. (At least in that one section based on the 10-second video.). What's the crowd like???

Yeah, Solo is starting.

Cope will FINALLY get some playing time, which should be exciting. Let's see what he can do.

As far as the crowd goes, doesn't even look like they filled up the club level, which is pretty bad. Tickets are gonna be super cheap this year, guess that means I'll be able to go to more games, at least.

Oh, and all attendees tonight get a free Slick Leonard banner. Pretty Cool.

Is something wrong with Stuckey?
Looking at the box score and he has only played 7mins, despite playing very well

Slick said that Vogel is restricting Stuckey's minutes initially.

Really! Is he coming of an injury or something?
I would have thought despite restrictions he'd get more than just 7mins over almost 3 quarters

Stuck has a foot issues.

I know this is a small sample size against a ranking philly team, but this is why I want hibb to stick around for a while. When he's on and engaged (which is indeed more often than not), he's a force. And once the salary cap goes up, his contract won't hurt as bad

I had really missed Pacers basketball. I'm so glad that it's back and with a nice win to boot :D

Roy was amazing tonight. Sloan and Stuckey were impressive as well. Everyone contributed to this win and that's great.

Yup. Very sore foot. Was doubtful to play up until today.

I watched the game on mute so they might have announced it on-air, but it's on nba.com as a sellout. Sure didn't look like it would get near that in pregame, but awesome. Hopefully the fan base keeps that going!

Watching it now (free trial of ILP for a few days). What a dreadful first 8 minutes, 8 turnovers, silly fouls, no protection in the paint. Stuckey turning it on now in the latter part of the quarter though. Goes to show why Sloan isn't a starter. Also genuinely wondering why Solo is starting.

EDIT: I now see why Hill is starting, Cope is the offensive anchor for the second unit. I'm now towards the end of the third quarter and the play has significantly improved. Let's write off the first quarter as suffering from start of season jitterbugs and unfamiliarity with the line-up.

All in all, for a first game with half a bench out we did pretty well. Great to see Roy so dominant and Miles is a lot better offensively than I thought he would be.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

Saw a reporter on twitter say BLF was at 85% capacity last night. That number is just gonna fall the rest of the year though, its gonna be a rough year for crowds.

I really liked the Miles signing. A lot of times last year it would get kicked out to Lance who wasn't a real threat to hit the 3. Miles was off a bit to start out with in this game, but we know he can knock 'em down.

Yup, he can create offense in a way we didn't really have. He can't drive like Lance, but we all know that was always a scary thing when Lance tried too hard. What he can do is hit those shots. Lance isn't a bailout shot guy but Miles is. We won't mind him taking shots when he's 0/5.

I think he can be a serviceable defender for us once he learns the system too. He won't be good, but he's got real good length.
