Trade up with Hornets?

Saw a recent mock about how the Pacers could trade up for Cauley-Stein. Not huge on him but I do think if he can develop some on the offense side of the ball he could be a solid players. This also got me thinking about how the Hornets might be shopping Zellers and getting Cody Zellers in the deal as well. Thoughts?

For whom though? Mahinmi and the 11th?

I don't see how we can both trade up AND get a guy like Cody in the deal. Would take either Hill or Paul George to do that.

Not interested in either. I think we would have to give up too much to make that happen. If WCS is there at 11 I will be thrilled, but we don't need to go all in to get him by sacrificing other valuable pieces.

Something involving Hibbert?

With Charlotte? I would think Hibbert's value would be mitigated by the presence of Bismack Biyombo, as well as Al Jefferson and Spencer Hawes, all 3 of which are pure centers at this point in their career.

In a 3 way deal? Maybe. But I don't think Hibbert has the value in trade right now to move up from #11, or to get Cody Zeller, let alone both.

Plus, we should also recognize that we cannot trade Hibbert until he formally opts into his deal for next year, and the deadline for that is June 29th, about a week after the draft. So, it's immensely unlikely he gets moved in any way for a draft pick. Same goes for David West and his player option.

Also to assume most trade partners willing to give up a draft pick better than 11 would have zero interest in Hibbert.

My thinking was around Hibbert but that was if he opt In which we don't know totally, so if h doesn't opt in then this trade up isn't even a thought. Might be something to these rumors that he could opt out?

Maybe, but also, why would a team in the top 10 have interest in Hibbert? At most, he's an expiring contract, and he'll be expiring going into the summer of 2016 where most every team in the league would have cap space to sign him outright without needing his Bird rights. After that, how many teams in the top 10 are really a rim-defending center away from truly competing?

The pacers are not gonna trade up. We'll have to sit and wait on a Hibbert trade probably till someone strikes out on free agents. I don't think there's any deal with Char for Hibbert even if they moved Jefferson to the Nets for JJ.

If WCS falls to 9, then I think giving Charlotte the 11 and a lottery protected first some year would be worth it. The Magic jumped from 12 to 10 to get Elfrid Payton last year and had to give up a 2017 top-11 protected and a 2015 second rounder. I think WCS is worth that, but I doubt he is available. We don't have the players to move up without putting in a future 1st.

the Knicks? Maybe adding hibbert with Melo an Tim Hardaway Could could make Phil Jackson really wanna pull the trigger then some free agents to fill out the roster.

trade down with Celtics? they have a ton of future firsts. Wiretap says they want Turner. I'd slide down for Grant.
