According to Marc Stein of ESPN, we are currently talking to the Lakers regarding Roy Hibbert for cap space. No words on if it's serious or just early talks, but it's out there.

I don't get it. Unless Bird knows that a DWest S&T trade is possible then what good is cap space? It's too late to clear space for anyone else, plus most free agent bigs are gone.

I'd expect some value in return for Hibbert regardless.

Value or bust at this point. Capspace won't do us any good.

According to Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report, a deal is done.

@JaredZwerling: Hearing the Lakers-Pacers deal is done involving Roy Hibbert. Just a matter of the assets involved now.

Cap space? Kosta Koufos would look good for us. Could re sign Stuckey, or go find a backup PG. it's not too late to find pieces.

As long as we don't take back Nick Young or pay to make the deal, there's no bad deal to be made, essentially.

@JeffZillgitt: As Pacers-Lakers figure out details of Roy Hibbert trade, it looks like Pacers will get cash and future pick in return. Sorting it out now.

Any word if its a 1st rounder or 2nd rounder. I would guess 2nd rounder. Also with some free cap space, anyway maybe can keep Stuckey?

I imagine it has to be a 2nd rounder at best. They already owe 1sts to Philly and Orlando, so the earliest 1st they can send is 2020. The cash is likely just to cover the 15% trade kicker that we would have to pay Hibbert as part of the deal (in the old CBA, the trading team pays the kicker, in the new CBA, standard operating is for the acquiring team to pay the kicker; Roy signed in the old CBA). The 2nd rounder might even be a protected one we never see. I think our incentive is the $15.5m in cap space we'd now have, as well as just moving on. Adding a guy like Kosta Koufos for $6-8m a year would be a great move now, as would re-signing Stuckey.

Ya, just saw that we get all the cap space and Lakers take it all which is huge so ya , has to be a protected 2nd rounder. Koufos and Stuckey would be two very nice additions to the team.

Amazing how far we've fallen as a franchise.

it's sad isn't it? Just like 2 years ago we were a power house an team to reckon with now the pacers aren't anything.. An I fully blame Larry for this his comments pushed west out then to trade hibbert after all the good players are signed... Just dumb to me

How have we fallen far? West was old and Hibbert isn't Hibbert 3 years ago so we needed to change it up. Falling far would be blowing it up and becoming the Sixers for the next 3-5 years. I think this team is only a year away if we add some more to what we got to being back in the thick of things. I still think the team we have now is still a playoff team easily.

That was quick. I was hoping to use him to get another playmaker wing to start at the 3. Particularly someone who can rebound/defend and play with the ball in their hands. I was quietly hoping for a Stephenson clone to play the 3. Golden State just beat Cleveland with 5 play makers on the floor. If the formula is good I dont see why Indy shouldnt emulate it. That was a lot of cap space freed up with Roy gone. But who's still available? Maybe We could acquire Danilo Gallinari, Wes Johnson, Josh Smith or Granger. J Smoove would allow for Paul to stay at the 3 more.
