Not that any of us were worried, but Shayne is returning. The interesting news is that his salary is guaranteed.

No word yet on exact numbers, but I would guess it's for the 1 year veteran minimum of $845,059.

He's our development guy, and he's cheap. I have no issue. Every team has a guy they like for some reason that no one else does. Shayne's essentially that guy for us. We'll continue to see what he can do as a 4 or 5 going forward.

Buried in the Rakeem Christmas article is this quote:

Among this crop, Whittington, a second-year forward/center, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pacers with the first year fully guaranteed.

Nothing major, but interesting and hadn't been reported before, as far as I'd seen.

I'm glad to see that. So looks like we could have a core of:

Hill/Young
Ellis/Stuckey
George/Miles/Hill
Christmas
Turner/Whittington

Plus our pick next draft for around 55 mil. So we could have some major cap space, with very few holes, and no young guys coming up quickly on extensions (outside of Hill, who, if we retain, shouldn't cost a bunch). We could be a good landing place for a big name guy. Horford would be perfect, but I doubt he'd leave the Hawks. Ryan Anderson could be interesting too if he's healthy. Then of course there's the ultimate pipe dream in Durant. The free agent class is kind of weak though and a lot of teams will have money.

you left out, perhaps intentionally:

Ian Mahinmi
Chase Budinger
Lavoy Allen
Jordan Hill

were you thinking that none of the four would be here next summer?

No just listing what we'd have going into free agency. Totally left out Allen though.

Seemed he was just listing who was actually under contract for next year.

As for Mahinmi/Hill/Budinger, well, we'll see how this year goes and whatnot before pencilling them in. Also, what kind of feel we get of if they would even want to be back, or how much they're going to get overbid next summer, too.
