How are you all? I don't know if it's sticky worthy, 'but how are you guys? What's been going on in your lives? I've been relaxing at home recovering from knee surgery. Sucks.

I'll bite. I've been monitoring my posting to not be too 'angry' or aggressive or what not before I hit Submit. Been pretty rough lately.

I'm 34, and my gf is 37. Now, I say girlfriend but we have a house together and entangled financials. We're as close to married as you can be without the rings. Anyway, 3 weeks ago she was incapable of walking to the car from the bedroom without taking a break. I finally convinced her to go to the hospital (after a week) and she had severely low blood level. She was bleeding internally. They found a tumor in her colon, and yep, it was cancer (hence why I said the ages - WTF cancer at 37?). The tumor was causing internal bleeding and they removed 8 inches of her colon at the hospital.

On the good side, they believe they got it all (the cancer - no sign of it elsewhere) but she still has to do 6 months of chemo. Ugh. Also our friends and family have started a GoFundMe for all of our medical bills and it's already to over 6 grand. Overwhelming, really.

I just can't wait until this 6 months are over and things can go back to normal.

Crap man. That is rough. Good thing y'all caught it early. We didn't with my father, though his was stomach. He passed less than 10 days after he was diagnosed. It's been just over 2 years and it still sucks. Reason I say this is not to steal your thunder but rather, to encourage you to talk to someone. I had previously been "ok" through my mother's breast cancer fight. She's fine now. I was fine after my dad, too. As fine as one could be. I counted our blessings that he lived right up until he was sick, never missed anything, and his body was only ravaged (though badly) for so short of a time frame (or he was so strong) that he didn't suffer. However, I didn't realize that I was hurting very badly and didn't know how to cope. It wasn't for another year or so when I found a place nearby where I lived in Cleveland that was amazing (shout out to the Gathering Place, truly doing amazing work). There, I found a group I could sit in on when I needed to. Someplace I could talk, and listen, and helped me realize a few things. You sound like you've got a great support structure with your friends helping, but maybe you might need some people to talk with who aren't necessarily friends.

Otherwise, I just moved to Cincinnati, so I'm settling in. So nice to be much closer to home (Fishers). Other than that, just keeping on.

Unfortunately, cancer at 37 isnt really that uncommon. I am sorry to hear about both ofyour families being subjected to it. My gf in college survived it when we were only 21 and Like Scroot says there is a pretty vast community of support out there.

Cancer is an indiscriminate jerk. It doesn't care who you are. A kid on my mom's street is 6 or 7, and has been undergoing treatment for cancer since she was essentially born. My wife's aunt/godmother, one of the kindest, funniest souls you'll meet had cancer from age 16 on, until she passed. I don't know exactly how old she was, but younger than 40. At the time, she had 3 kids under the age of 10.

Cancer sucks, y'all. It's probably the one uniting thought that people of all background, colors, creeds, etc, can agree upon.

Lost my mother to cancer, it hurt, bad. I hope she can beat it. Sounds like she's got a good chance.

And my knee surgery was to repair something with my kneecap. It shifted or something, nothing crazy though.

on a brighter note, I just got back from a week in Southern Utah with our 7 year old grandson on a learning about dinosaurs tour by RoadScholar.org. most of you are under their target age range (seniors) but I highly recommend it if your parents are looking for a good experience with your kids and they also have family trips for grandparents, children, and grandchildren. the kids saw fossils and tracks, had a hands on experience in a paleontology lab, hiked in Zion National Park, and rode horses in Bryce Canyon National Park.

on a brighter note, I just got back from a week in Southern Utah with our 7 year old grandson on a learning about dinosaurs tour by RoadScholar.org. most of you are under their target age range (seniors) but I highly recommend it if your parents are looking for a good experience with your kids and they also have family trips for grandparents, children, and grandchildren. the kids saw fossils and tracks, had a hands on experience in a paleontology lab, hiked in Zion National Park, and rode horses in Bryce Canyon National Park.

@xbulletproof: I wish your GF a speedy and complete recovery. Just learned that a friend of mine has an incurable kidney disease and it came as a surprise. Guess, we really have to take extra caution with everything. Health is wealth.

Glad this topic was posted, cause I don't really have any idea on how is everyone doing, or how old is everyone. Never knew Wizop is a living antique already.

I was away for like more than half a year from all basketball activities including fantasy basketball. Never watched the entirety of the playoffs and the finals. Got myself back weeks prior to the draft. Girls are big distractions to basketball and I am now back to my first love. Them girls made me lose my bets in fantasy, and had me spending like I own an ATM. Was a memorable ride but not worth all the trouble. Just another phase in life. Moving on.

it's been a long time since I took it but my tip would be to be verbose. the more you write, the better chance you have of making them think you understand. also read the Indiana cases from the last 12 months or so as the advance sheets (probably an obsolete term) are a source the examiners use to make up questions. at least they used to do that in the days of hard bound law books.

The grind that made me quit being a mod when the team was on its upswing has somewhat paid off and I've started my own animation production company. We signed our first contract, so I'm well on my way to becoming the next Disney (He started Disney Animation at 26 as well). Who knows? Maybe I'll buy the Pacers in 20 or 30 years.

xbulletproof: No cancer is good cancer but it's very fortunate that it was caught early. Couples tend to live longer, and you demonstrated exactly why when you convinced her to do the right thing and go to the hospital, so kudos to you. I know you don't have the cancer, but I wish you both a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the tip. Luckily I had a couple law school professors who did their exams like the bar exam, so at least I've had some experience in what type of answers they're looking for. And from what I've heard people who don't pass their essays tend to put nothing or something completely wrong rather than just demonstrating that they know something about the subject.

Not taking it in Indiana though, so I doubt those cases would be helpful. NH is a UBE state now so I've kind of got nothing to go off of for possible places they may take questions from, but on the flip side I don't have any state law to memorize.

I once drove through Southern Utah on my way to Vegas about ten years ago. I have to say for being so desolate it was the most memorable part of the ride for me because the landscape is reminiscent of another planet.

I started a new job this spring as a sales manager for a local Indy contractor. It has been a decent transition away from my previous job. At the end of the day Im spending time with my family. I have 4 children ages 21/17/17/11. Needless to say I am in a vortex of parenting duties at the moment. It's hectic at times but I always try to think long term and it helps me savor the moment better.
