Sounds like we are signing Tony Douglas. I'm cool with this. Decent PG.

Yup. Looks like it's a non-guaranteed one year deal. He'll be given an option to come to camp and compete to try and make the roster, though he's likely a training camp body. It is somewhat possible that we could still make a trade and clear a roster spot, though unlikely.

We can really use another guy who can play PG. Just don't think he'll make the final cut. Good addition though.

Well, we needed a 3rd string point guard. Hill/Stuckey should manage most of it, but you always need a 3rd guy just in case.

I guess it works.

makes more sense to me than RGIII or Christmas. sure wish they'd change the roster size rule to allow players to be permanently assigned to the D-League and not count against the 15 limit. it'd be a better use of some of the coming cap increase.

I don't mind it as a camp body, but I certainly hope we don't drop a young guy for him. He's another scoring point, so I'd rather just play Young/Stuckey as the 2 backups.

Is he just a scorer now? I remember him coming out of college as a defender.

I'm sure he's still fine as a defender, but I'd prefer a passing PG as a backup/third string guy personally. George Hill can handle the bulk of the defensive PG duties and if need be Paul George or Solomon Hill can defend opposing PGs for stretches (or even Stuckey, he's not that bad a defender and is obviously incredibly strong).

I just don't see Douglas as really filling a need. Especially when we have 15 guaranteed contracts and if he makes the team it likely means us cutting GRIII (who I like as a prospect) since I don't see any trades happening unless someone wants to overpay for Mahinmi before the season starts.

I don't expect him to stick, looks like a camp signing. Who goes if he makes the team?

Maybe it's just me, but I think the late addition of Rakeem Christmas put Shayne Whittington on the edge. Clearly, we like him, and want to keep him, but adding another guy to training camp that could make the roster is certainly a very good way to keep pushing Shayne to not get comfortable.

No matter what, it's good to just keep pushing guys to get better, work harder, and not take anything for granted. We're going to bring 20 to camp like we always do. Douglas is 16. So, 4 more to go.

Another thing to keep in mind with the acquisition of the Mad Ants is that if we cut anyone in training camp (if we were the last team to cut them), we would have priority to have them placed on the Mad Ants in the NBDL over any other team. This is what San Antonio has done in the past several years to develop the end of bench guys, including Danny Green.

Reminds me of Stuck, but with more game from deep.

He can light it up, apparently.

SInce we're on the matter of signings,
was hoping the Pacers FO would take
a look at Earl Clark who was released
by BKN. Athletic, in-out offensive game,
and even some handles.

He's a big who'll fit the style
Larry wants us to play.

Of course, these are a small sample esp
he played on a depleted LAL team, but
low-risk.

I was a fan of Earl Clark a couple years back coming off that LA year he had and when he signed in Cleveland. He's just been such a....not good player. Not bad, but not good.

Earl Clark's biggest weakness is that he has no strengths.

I like him and I hope he makes the team. No idea who else to cut though. Shayne? It seems like Christmas has more upside as project big man.
