Alright, so no thread for this, but the game is coming down to the wire...

The hickory jerseys are a nice touch. Back and forth, this game is really fun to watch.

Hill tip in. 8-) PG with 35 so far, Turner doesn't look NBA-ready at all, and Ellis lost all the magic he had playing for the Mavs. Still, some bright spots.

Turner has looked fine in other games. We need Ellis to figure things out, but I'll take 3-3.

Good game you two. You took the stick to us and smoked us good.

The young guys on this team look great. Of course they'll have their off games, but a lot of good promise right now.

I agree, alotta good promise. I was never high on GRIII outta Michigan, but the more I think about it he was a great glue guy for them. He does a lot of things really well...I don't think he'll ever have that killer instinct but I can atleast see him eventually being a solid contributor on a good team. He's well built for the NBA.

Interested to see what kind of run Joe Young will get with the Stuckey injury. I have no doubt he'll get us buckets, but i'm interested to see him on defense in regular season games. If I was an opposing coach i would target him.

How about Vogel? It sure seems like we're improving each game and that guys are starting to get on the same page. Credit to him for that and I've like how he's managed the lineups to try and find what works. He really is a good xs and os coach.

Like what I'm seeing from Monta. He has appeared to have a great attitude and is taking a good approach to finding his role.

Things are getting together, I was really concerned during the first few games and pre-season as the pieces didn't make sense to me at all. But the more things are clicking the easier it is to see who fits where and why exactly we brought in the players we did. Also interesting to see that we play a hell of a lot better with PG13 on the 3. I hope we can slowly forget playing him on the 4 without it causing embarrassment to Bird, because that was a stupid idea from the start. The higher pace wasn't though and it seems to suit our key-pieces.

Last few games we have defended well on top of moving the ball, although at times the pace can pick up more imo.

Monta might not have his scoring hat on yet, but he is assisting and creating enough, he will come good. I think he is searching for a way to defer to PG13 whilst maintaining some offensive presence. I wasn't a fan of Jordan Hill coming, but actually I can see what he brings. He is still a defensive liability, but with the pace up high and with Lavoy providing interior defensive presence he seems to work. Budinger is a total mystery to me, I am not sure what he is supposed to bring, I'd rather have seen another ball-handler than him. GRIII is a lovely find who just brings some attitude off the bench that I like and Myles Turner is going to be one of the best big men in the league.

All in all, I like it.

Was I the only person anywhere that noticed Ellis was visibly upset in the last minutes?

At one point all the players huddled and put their hand in coming out of a timeout and he just turned and walked away as soon as guys started doing it. During timeouts he wasn't even paying attention to Vogel.

I find it more likely he was upset with himself and his performance than anything else.

This is a good win for the Pacers I've keep seeing these threads in the Trade forum suggesting that we're gonna suck and that we should trade PG for a package here or there. I was looking at the Celtics Forum the other day and they have an post game thread with a bunch of their guys crying about how they shouldn't have lost to the Pacers. We were without CJ and Ian and still beat them, without CJ last night and still beat the Evil Miami Heat! Fact is we could have won the games against Toronto and Memphis but seemed to lose focus at the end.

No question Miami is a good team as is Detroit, Boston looks jumbled together to me, but these are 3 quality wins we should be proud of this team so far. If we can stay healthy and learn to play together I see no reason why we can't win 45 games at least 41. Let's hope Stuckey's ankle gets better soon.

I think it's likely because we are a small market team, are a team that played without any real superstar name power last year, and have a current lineup that's fairly different from the last time the team had major success. They're not as familiar with our team and organization we are. They aren't thinking that Vogel is a top defensive coach, that Larry Bird loves finding and developing underappreciated talent, that we've added some firepower through free agency, or that for a good portion of the last time Paul George was healthy that he was in the conversation as a possible MVP candidate.

It's too easy to only focus on "they missed the playoffs last year, so they must suck." I think we know better.

A lot of the Celtics fans have really high expectations for this season they're really freaking out over there about us beating them, some of them even talking about tanking. 5 games into the season is kinda early for a tank.

GRIII is promising. Hard to pass up on the kid.

Also, it's nice to see that Vogel is now playing the talent this team has. We actually have bigs that are better and COULD be better than Mahinmi.
