Coming together?

We have now played five good games in a row and there is still room for improvement in most areas. I think slowly the idea of PG13 playing the 4 is leaving Vogel's head and it is making us better overall. I do think we are in a transitional year which begs the question:

What do we need to finish this project?

We need Monta Ellis to step up or step back. I'm thinking he's just figuring out his role but he's looked a lot like Andre Johnson so far.

If Paul George continues like this past week, playoffs for sure.

A healthy PG is a top 10 player.

I don't think him playing the 4 left Vogel's head. It was just a lot more difficult to pull off with CJ Miles out. The big lineup was actually going even, toe to toe with Orlando near the end of the game. It was the small lineup that sealed the deal.

I was at the game and didn't realize it until I heard it on the radio driving home but the second best plus/minus was Budinger.

I think you are on to something here. Bringing Monta off the bench could define his role closer to his comfort zone. Move Stuckey or Robinson into the starting lineup and you drastically improve the defense of the starting unit (big or small).

Monta stepped it up massively against the Twolves, those final plays, particularly defensively, were out of this world. Let's hope he can kick on of the back of that performance.

It's interesting to look at stats on the Pacers. When they play small-ball they get greatly dominated, but they punish teams when George is on the court at the same time as Jordan Hill and Lavoy Allen. Hill has been underrated for Indiana this season and if they can find a suitable replacement for Allen, maybe Myles Turner sooner then later, this team could be somewhat scary.

Yeah, I have to say I am a bit disappointed in Lavoy, I thought he performed better last year and I am not sure what caused him to look like a bit-part this year, but he does.

Jordan Hill is becoming better and that really pleases me as I was pretty down on him joining. He is still a defensive black hole though and I don't think he would help a lot in a potential play-off series.

Having said that: The whole thing is beginning to look like Turner will start towards the end of the season and I really like that idea. He has been a very positive rookie signing so far for us.

Something in me really just wants to see the lineup of G Hill monta PG Myles turner an Ian
