not sure what the magic are thinking dealing Dipo' a lottery pick, and illyasova for Serge. kinda sucks for Vogel.
magic have vucavic and aaron gordon - which i guess goes back to the bench?? move simply doesnt make alotta sense to me for Orlando.
Dipo' is much younger and likely already a better player than Ibaka. throw in the 11th pick and Thunder hit home run with this one.
best of luck Coach Vogel. prob gonna need it with the front office in place for Magic. maybe ibaka bounces back to what he once was.. but at this point he is stretch 4 with solid defense.
not sure how you give up a stud like dipo' this early to acquire a guy that has likely hit his ceiling in Serge. Makes dealing #20 for Thad Young even more impressive by Larry Legend. Magic got fleeced. They are nowhere near win now mode and by the time they are Serge is on the downslope and Dipo' an allstar.

Who are you? on Pacers Digest?
It's one of the few trades I have difficulties seeing the benefits for a certain team with, so ya.

Same here. They could have gotten better players in return than Ibaka with that package.
They could be thinking of making Gordon play at the SF, with Fournier and Hezonja at the 2.

As an IU fan, I'm a Dipo fan but I think vogel is happy with a defensive anchor.

That is why this is so strange. Dipo is one of the better perimeter defenders. I understand the D and 3 value of a stretch 4 who offers what Ibaka does, but you don't give Dipo in that deal.
I love it for OKC. Getting Dipo to defend Curry is a great step to moving past them next year. Takes a huge piece off of Westbrook.

It was a very surprising trade. Someways it makes total sense and others, not so much.
For Ibaka, who wants to be more involved on offense, he won't have to take as much of a backseat in Orlando as he did in OKC. And like Wizop mentioned, Frank now has his man in the middle to detour opponents from getting to the rim with ease. Also, Payton nor Oladipo were neither great threats from three, even though Oladipo shot a career 35% from behind the arc this past season. I say that knowing that Westbrook is also terrible from three-point range, so that will also be a problem in OKC.
For OKC it makes sense because Ibaka was wanting out and the team got a couple of young pieces to use now and in the future. Whether he was worth more than they received is definitely up for debate at this point. From a perimeter defense perspective, I think the Westbrook & Oladipo backcourt could really give the Splash Brothers trouble. I'm interested in seeing what starting five OKC rolls with next season, if they envision playing more of small ball lineup with Durant or Roberson at the 4?
I think this is one of those rare trades where both teams win and lose.

Vogel has a defensive anchor now, which is what he's best with, but giving up Victor and a first rounder is too much. He had obvious weaknesses, like his three point shooting, he had room to grow in those departments and still does, why give up on him so soon? I remember Ersan having one good season and that's it, as a stretch four he works I guess. Thunder are better on paper, we'll see if trading Ibaka rubs Durant the wrong way, if I was Durant I'd be pretty impressed.

I think Sabonis is gonna be a great pick for OKC and getting Oladipo and Illasova, Illasova has a mostly non guranteed contract so he can just be cut. This deal saves the Thunder a bunch of money and they get younger. Of Orlando I don't get it.

No, it makes sense to me. I love Oladipo, and think he's going to be really good starter in this league, but I think that if Ibaka returns to what he has been in the league every year except this past one, it's a perfect fit for Orlando. Vucevic is a good player, but NEEDS a defensive rim-protecting big next to him with shooting range. That is essentially what Ibaka has been his entire career. Right now, Ilyasova is just filler that can be used for a year (heck, I'd take him off OKC's hands in a deal for nothing if they don't want him), and Sabonis could be a really nice fit, or just another borderline rotational big that needs 5+ years to pay off.
Ultimately, this deal comes down to two things. Does Ibaka bounce back to be what he always has been; a rim protecting big that can hit the 3 with solid consistency? And, is our IU love blinding us to Oladipo....I.e., is he a good starter, but not a future star like we all blindly think he can be?
