"The Mavericks are unloading Evans and cash to the Pacers, league sources tell @TheVertical."
Looks like Allen has some competition.

is this about the cap or a real player? I think it gets us to the floor and I suppose it gives Dallas a little bit of room to go after someone, and he can run and jump. he's played 3 and 4. anyone know if he can shoot?
Edit: Star also reports deal and says Dallas paid us to take him.

Low-risk, fine move, even if it is for the guy who wrongly beat PG in the dunk contest

Haven't seen him shoot a decent amount of jumpers but I think he can do it. It's just he's always near the rim and that makes his FG% really good.
A bit puzzling to me because he's kind of a faster but weaker Rakeem Christmas. To me, he's a natural three who can play 4 at times. Kinda adds into the logjam at SF. Obviously elite-level athleticism though.

Wolters, Hopson, Evans, Whittington, Christmas - - - sounds like a pretty good starting lineup for the Ants.

Doubt he'll get much playing time but a nice insurance just in case. Mavs just did a pure salary dump.
Career, he's a 57% shooter while averaging 3.5ppg, 2.6 rpg in 10.5 minutes over 6 seasons.
I also can't help but to wonder if this is a move to lure Gordon Hayward here next season. Next summer Gordon will be an UFA and was best friends with Evans when he was in Utah.
Can't help but wonder.....

I like this move. Maybe Indy can sneak him in there for some small ball five. Kinda reminds me of Jonathan Bender.

Huh? This seems weird. I think the pacers might have no intention of using the rest of their cap if they're comfortable with taking on Evans.

Evans is making the minimum so a guy like Shayne could be waived if they want some more cap room.

i have to think this isn't the final piece of the puzzle.
Does this free us up to move CJ / Stuckey / Allen along with Ellis?

I suspect the only one freed up by this is Dallas. they needed cap space for Dirk and we helped them get it and no real cost to us. were this a mob movie, Bird would have said "someday I'll ask you for a favor."

Guess this ends the lance Stephenson possibility.

Jamaal Tinsley spotting in that video, what wasted potential.
But I don't know what to make of this move, maybe a part of another trade down the road. Athletic big man whose career highs came in 2013-14 when he averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 66 games. If nothing else, I'm sure it was a net gain in terms of money for Simon. But you really have to applaud how Bird has went about the last couple of off-seasons, he's really doing his best to retool this team on the fly.
OT - That 2011-12 Jazz team was pretty tough, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, DeMarre Carroll, Devin Harris, Enes Kanter, Derrick Favors, CJ Miles, a young Gordon Hayward and past their prime Raja Bell, Jamaal Tinsley and Josh Howard.

Have we heard what we dealt for Evans and Cash?

Suspect they'll have a news conference with details of all trades once they are official. I think today is the day they can be submitted to the league for approval.

"Rights to a foreign drafted player". So, either Andrew Betts or Stanko Barac.

We gave up the rights to Stanko, but also received the rights to Emir Preldzic along with cash and Evans.

Human pogo stick. Yamn, I see very little more he adds besides jumping and even when he jumps high and blocks a shot the ball often goes back to the opponent and shots in chaos are easier to make. The positives about him are that our younger players will get their chances quicker though, so I like the addition

Was Carlisle our coach when we drafted Stanko? Maybe he never gave up on him.
