Trade deadline moves/adjustments

Post#1 » by Cresy06 » Thu Jan 19, 2017 9:43 am

With the trade deadline approaching, what Players would you try to move/acquire if you were the GM of the Pacers?
Or what other adjustments would you consider regarding the rotation?

Me personally, I would try to move Monta Ellis, as he has not been great this season. He would be very hard to move with his current contract tho. The Cavs are looking for someone to make plays, Monta could be that player for them if he finds his rhythm at some point, so Monta for Shumpert straight up would be a trade I'd be ok with.

Other than that I am still not a fan of Big Al (but he might be valuable for the playoffs) and Séraphin.

Shumpert no thanks... As to your question I'm not really sure. Obviously if we could move Monta that would be great but like you said it would be very difficult to do.

unless Stuckey is going to get healthy or Yoe Young is going to light up after a stint with the Ants, I think we need Monta as point guard insurance. that Young and Christmas are in Fort Wayne suggests we might be show casing them as possible trade add ons,.

Seraphin has been a pleasant surprise but he's always been more of a 5 than a four. if we do make a move, I'd go for depth at the 4.

I'd go for that too. This team has a lot of versatility for different matchups, but nobody good enough to put in for Thad Young when he struggles to defend bigger opponents. Larry Bird certainly had the right idea when he tried to sign great offensive rebounders like Thomas Robinson and Willie Reed. One of those 2 or a similar player is who I woud target.

I would trade Monta in the right deal, but I can't see any team having enough interest in him (or Stuckey or Jefferson).

And you might also be right about showcasing Young and Christmas.

The Pacers are currently making 8.3 three-point shots per game, which is 26th in the league. Only the Suns, T-Wolves, Bulls and Pistons make less a game then us. I think if we can improve that stat by just a little bit, and make around the 10 per game mark (would put us around the 10-11th best mark) it would go a long way.

Some players i'd target is Anthony Morrow from OKC, Nick Young from the Lakers, or Jodi Meeks from Orlando.

Swaggy P has also turned into a really good defender. Would love to start him at the 2 and then GR3 could help the bench with some D.

J.J. Redick and Paul Pierce (waived after trade) for Monta Ellis and Lottery Protected 2017 Indiana Pacers First Round Draft Pick?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

Doubtful Larry does that for a half season rental.

We need impact players. Gragic, Jurik, of the known players fit the build. I would also look at trading Paul George if I could get something i like

Parker is great, but Henson has been god awful this season and we have enough bad contracts as it is so I'd pass.

Swap Henson for Monroe? He's been really good this year, player option this summer.

Turner starts at the 5 and stretches the floor really well, plus we have Al on the bench which would be a bit of a logjam if we added Monroe to the bench. It's tough, I'd love to have Parker I'm a big fan, but the supporting pieces of the deal don't seem to fit.

I like Parker and the 1st, but no more stiff bigs that can't play D like Monroe and Henson does not have bad contract, he would be better than what we get from Allen and Seraphin, but not really a factor in a trade for George.

Turner at the 5 should not be the centerpiece to this team. I am not sure he is a 5, he does not perform well against more physical or traditional 5's. I watched Al Horford moonlight as a 5 for years and it was never right. Chauncey Billups said earlier this year that you are not going to win a championship with Al playing C, I think Myles does fewer of the things a good C does than Al.

Myles is only 20, he will fill out a bit, add some muscle and fit right into the modern center mold, imo.

Al Horford came into the league averaging a virtual double double and his rebounding just went down every year. He moved further and further out, shooting more and more jumpers. He was supposed to work on a counter to his jump hook over left shoulder and never did that or improve any on low post scoring. Finally, the things Ben Wallace and even a Tristan Thompson have in them that allow them to play C at a championship level Horford and Turner don't have.

Well Meeks is out now with a broken thumb. I always saw Nick Young as a bit of a head case. Morrow I'd like to have.

I think the low number of 3pts is hurting the Pacers we're getting out gunned.

Who would you give in a Morrow swap?
