Pacers waive Stuckey & Bring back Lance Stephenson

Post#1 » by Cresy06 » Wed Mar 29, 2017 3:48 pm

So the Pacers just waived Rodney Stuckey, which I think is the right decision.
If we drop out of the Playoff race, which could easily happen if they keep playing like this, do you expect Larry Bird to waive Ellis as well?

I doubt Ellis gets waived. From what I know about their respective contracts, Rodney's was much easier to waive. Ellis is still owed too much to just dump like that. Especially with the budget Larry is reportedly working under

Stuckey is injured and was going to be out 4 to 6 weeks. waiving him now opens a roster spot for a replacement. it saves money for next year by killing his player option (not sure how that works) but I think it is about this year as we're short a 2 guard with both he and GRob injured. Ellis is playing well and is needed for this year although next year is something that can be a summer question.

IndyCornRows explains the option business. apparently his contract contains a clause voiding this summer's player option if he was waived early enough. CJ Miles has the same provision and Ellis does too but not until next year.

Indy Star says we signed Lance. I like it.

I liked Rodney a lot. Especially during the year Paul was out, he helped carry a ton of offensive load. Seemed like a great locker room guy. But he just hasn't been able to stay healthy since then. He wasn't very good in last year's playoffs, and his fit with the team was always a bit odd ever since the Ellis signing just because of redundancy.

Fare thee well, Stuck.

Hell yeah, Lance is back. I'm pumped.

Never should have left in the first place, but alas.

That was quick! I am excited as well...I also like the three-year deal! Could turn out to be a steal if he can bring back his old self

I had no idea they could release Stuckey and void his 2017-18 contract. I had thought they might buy him out. This assures some extra money in the budget for summer signings.

Apparently Monta has the same clause in his deal so unless he's tearing up ole Jack this time next season I can see the same thing happening with him. Or now that it's known he might be traded at the dead line.

If David West retires after this year we should sign him as an assistant coach, he can keep guys in line.

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (Back here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Nearly impossible to do worse than Stuckey, so why not?

I'm overly ecstatic about the Pacers bringing Lance back, should have never left. Admittedly, I'm a little irrational about how much I like Lance's game and what he brings to the team, but these guys have lacked fire all season and Lance will bring that.

Yeah I thought he was going to play last night...but Sunday is fine by me, hope he comes out and blows in Lebrons ear once again and hands them another loss for this month lol
