Paul George officially left off All-NBA teams

Post#1 » by chube » Thu May 18, 2017 6:21 pm

Well...

I'm in the camp who thinks this would make or break his decision. As much as I'd like him to stay, I doubt he's a Pacer come July 1, 2018.

There's still a chance he makes it next year but this is looking bad.

I had heard a few weeks before the Colts draft that insiders were expecting him to be gone despite public statements. Now we're hearing that the Lakers may be so confident that they won't trade for him this summer. If he's gone, I'd just as soon lose him now if only for cap space.

Would have been nice for him to make it. But realistically I don't know if anyone was expecting it. Indy Star reported he is going to consider options over the weekend before meeting with the Pacers. I expect we will know what direction he and the franchise will go at that point.

I really doubt we'll know anything definitive that quickly.

Paul George was not that good the whole year. He turned it on late in the season. IMO, he did not clearly deserve to be on the all-star team in front of Teague and Turner.

If you can Wiggins or Lavine and Minny pick +filler for George I would do it.

If you can get #1 pick+Avery Bradley+filler then I would do it.

George is not good enough that I would let him hold me hostage.

Minny has no incentive to do that because they would likely lose George after next year. Boston I'd be ok with but Bradley becomes a free agent next year.

It's very doubtful that anyone will offer any worthwhile assets prior to getting a confirmation that PG will indeed resign with them. Our only hope is that PG's agent makes it known that he is open to resigning with multiple teams, but a one year rental for the number one pick makes zero sense for the Celtics. And honestly, I'm not sure if it makes sense for them anyway. They over achieved this year, in my opinion, and honestly, as weak as the east was, not that surprising. Brown and Fultz will be coming into their own around the same time, they've got a bright future.

But, selfishly I hope I am way off base and PG is open to resign with the Celtics, Lakers or 76ers, so we can get them into a bidding war for his services.

The Celtics may have over achieved this year getting the #1 seed in the East, but they are about to get run out of the playoffs by the Cavs. What is a rookie gonna do for them next season? They are gonna be trying to sign Hayward, but It's extremely unlikely he leaves Utah. Also it looks like the Bulls no longer want to trade Butler.

If the Celitcs want to get better they're gonna have to make some changes, as good as Thomas is offensively I think he's a big liability on defense. And he only has 1 season left on his deal and he's gonna want $30 million a year next summer.

So far the only team that gave Cleveland any trouble in the playoffs this year was the Pacers, yeah we got swept but by an average of 4 points per game. The Cavs beat Toronto by an average of almost 13 points a game, and it looks like they might do the same to Boston. If they get run in 4 games by average of double digits they will be looking for help. Will they come to the Pacers for PG? IDK? I can tell you one thing for sure they aren't gonna give up that #1 pick.

Pacers aren’t a cool enough? What happened to competition? Doing something in a place it’s never been done before?!

OK!

Trade
George for #28 pick, Ingram, Tarik Black’s contract, and Corey Brewer’s contract

Free your cap space!

Yes.
Paul and his agent will want to as a solid to the Pacers. They gave him his start.
Lakers will want to cooperate as a solid to George.

The Lakers can wait, but would prefer (in Magic's first season) to start next season with Ball and George.
Super Duper Splashy.

The league requires cooperation.

You are so right PG is going to screw himself over by having one of the best players in the team who is going go to be shipped out for him... You might want to look at the WT and add onto the fact that PG's agent is also Agent to Russ and Randle...

Time is the most valuable asset.

George nor the Lakers are screwing themselves by trading away his backup.
No wise person would waste/lose a year of Paul George's prime over holding on to his back up.
Especially when the backup's contract is up in 2019.

That would be beyond short sighted.

Lakers get what they want early (time), and the Pacers get something of value. Win Win.

LOL! Not a damn chance we're trading Ingram for an expiring contract.

PG's camp has already informed Lakers FO to not trade for him. Magic has already stated he's saving money for next year's class (PG,COUSINS,WESTBROOK).

Pacers will be lucky to get a late 1st for him.

My only trade offer to the Pacers. Randle + Deng for PG. That's it.

Here is the Lakers incentive for trading for him. If the best offer the Pacers have is a late 1st, if I am Pritchard I keep PG. Late 1st isn't worth it. Enjoy him for one more year. He can make the All-NBA next year and get the super max. That would be the Lakers incentive in wanting to deal. If the Pacers aren't satisfied with any of the deals and keep him he can still obtain the super max.

Paul George isn't an expiring for the Lakers if he wants to play there and tells them he wants to sign a long term agreement.
George wants to be a Laker.

The Lakers aren't building a team around Paul George's backup. A back up who's contract expires in 2019.
Not when they also have Lonzo Ball.

Time is the most valuable asset.
No wise person would waste a year of Paul George's prime.
A wise person would trade to acquire him this summer.

Uhh.. We will waste a year of his prime. What are we going to do, team him up with Mozgov and Deng? LOL!

We must first get rid of our cancer contracts and then we can sign PG.

Return to Indiana Pacers
