Paul George to Boston

I've seen nothing on our Board discussing the rumored combination of Gordon Hayward and PG going to Boston as a package. Sounds like Boston will either get both or neither. Celtics need to clear some salaries, the primary ones being Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder. It. Would seem logical that we would take both of them. Where it goes from there is all over the place. Low end, picks from Memphis and Clippers both in 2019. Every now and then Brown and/or Tatum get thrown into the mix. The pick from Philly gets thrown into the discussion pretty regularly too.
Would be interesting to know whether the parameters of this deal were put into place on draft night (when things looked pretty bleak) or if things were left open ended until George and Hayward gathered their thoughts. Seems like time would be an element as Hayward imparticular would want this nailed down early so all other options would still be available if this one failed. If that thought has merit it would seem that Indiana would have some leverage. It would be refreshing to be on the other side the leverage equation.
Bradley, Crowder and either Tatum or Brown seems about right to me.
Thoughts?

Yeah I posted the deal in the off-season trade thread.
Like I said there, I'd take the deal.

Tatum or Brown would have to be included for an extended Paul George. Pritchard already knows this.

Ok, I'm ready to concede my initial thought of Crowder, Bradley and Tatum or Brown probably isn't happening. But there seems to be some consensus that
Crowder, Bradley, 2018 LA pick, and 2019 Griz or Clips pick might be possible. I even saw one Celtic throwing another lesser valued 1st rounder into the mix. Even if PG doesn't sign an extension this trade doesn't involve that much risk for the Celtics. And this offer is far better than any idea I've seen from anyone else. So what's next?
Move 1
Pacers trade Thad Young and Avery Bradley
Cav's trade Kevin Love
Cav's upgrade defensively and don't lose too much on offense.
Move 2
Pacers trade Kevin Love
OKC trades Oladipo, Sabonis, Ferguson
OKC get to pair Westbrook and Love
Pacers get young and field a very athletic team
pg Teague, Stephenson
sg Oladipo, Stephenson, Ferguson
sf Robinson, Crowder, Ferguson
pf Crowder, Leaf, Sabonis
c Turner, Sabonis, Seriphan

I would rather see us trade George to Boston than LA. Sure, it keeps him in the conference we're trying to compete in and could make things harder for us in the future, but Los Angeles media and fans just have this attitude where they think every star player can't wait to leave the team they're on and join LA. Every free agent gets news stories run about how they might get to LA. There is even talk of inappropriate collusion between LA and the Paul George camp to keep other teams from trading for Paul. Maybe not enough to make something happen from a legal standpoint, but we all saw Magic Johnson smiling, nudging, and winking about Paul George on late night TV.
I would love to send him to LA's biggest historical rival instead. It seems a very fitting type of revenge on our part.

Latest rumor I saw is boston offering a 2019 first rounder from philly, crowder and potentially Bradley. Not a bad haul if true.
Fortunately, thanks to Boston and now maybe Houston, the Lakers may have to start taking trade offers to us seriously. Thanks Boston and Houston for potentially creating a bidding war!

Tatum, Nets 18, and LA/SAC 18 is the correct haul. If they have to add Crowder and Bradley for salary not our fault.
Teague/Stephenson
Bradley/GRIII
Tatum/Crowder
Thad
Turner/Al Jefferson
Trade Thad and Al Jefferson to the Spurs for Lamarcus Aldridge

Bradley/GRIII
Tatum/Crowder
Lamarcus
Turner
That is top 4 in the East and you have two upcoming lottery picks. That is the obvious way to do it.

If you actually think the spurs would give up Aldridge for Thad and Al Jeff, I have a bridge to sell you...
And it's pretty clear at this point we will not be getting that sort of haul from Boston. They're not giving Tatum, two future firsts, Bradley and Crowder to get PG. we don't have that kind of leverage, never will, no matter how much you want to say that's the "correct haul".
Let's come on back to reality.

Please stop, you're embarrassing yourself.
Need Brown or Tatum in this deal, especially if PG is willing to do a trade and extend there is no way we dont get one of those two.

Danny Ainge just refused to trade the #3 pick for Jimmy Butler who is under contract for 3 more seasons.
Regardless of what you or I think, you really think he is going to give up Tatum (the #3 pick), the Brooklyn 18 1st and the LAL 18 1st for Paul George for a year?
This isn't an opinion. That's just not realistic based on trades that just recently happened.

Looks like Tatum is in the deal to me.

George came out and said he would resign in Cleveland if Lebron commits, also Boston and San Antonio. Looks like Indy is going to get a decent haul after all. Good thing George let it be known he would be leaving when he did. The Pacers could have gotten the Durant shaft. There are a lot of reports of a three team deal that would have sent Kyrie to the Suns, George/Bledsoe to the Cavs and Josh Jackson and other stuff the Pacers. My question is what else would need to be included on the Suns and Cavs to make this work? Cavs wouldn't do a straight Kyrie/George swap because in the deal the Cavs would have also gotten Bledsoe. Probably doesn't matter now because it looks like Boston is going to wind up with George.

Listen. I could care less about you and every Celts fan reminding everyone that Tatum was the number 3 pick. So was Smart 6th pick and Brown 3rd pick and Olynyk was a lottery pick. Ainge would love to consolidate some of those fails for a franchise changing win in George. He knows that if not for winning big and being in ECFinals everyone would be noticing how he has not hit a homerun with any of the 3 recent lottery picks he has had excluding Tatum and he may not be a homerun. If Ainge is smart he is starting to feel the heat with these picks. When is he going to turn these ifs into a certain thing? People keep mentioning Butler. Why didn't the Celts get him since everyone swears Minny package was weak? I think Celts want something for nothing.

Nobody really knows. Theres just so much speculation from offers to value to destination and his future, it's pretty crazy.
The one thing i'm thinking is, what if PG did call up Klay Thompson and someone else about building another super team in 2018 with the Lakers, and maybe he was shut down? Klay Thompson's brother said Klay won't go to LA. Maybe PG got a few ehh's and is now changing his plans as far as where he will be willing to go?
I am under the impression, that we won't get Brown, Tatum or the Nets pick, but i think anything else is available beside that. Lakers pick, LAC/MEM pick, Smart/Bradley, or whatever else.

that's how I see it too, but if we get other offers things could change. Brown, Tatum, and the high picks are the assets Boston has that a rebuilding team would want and which no other contending team has.
in the good news/bad news vein, PG is reported to be willing to extend with several contending teams. the good news is that we no longer have to trade him as a one-year rental. the bad news is he just slapped us in the face as he's effectively said that we have no possibility of building a winning team around him. on second thought, maybe he's slapped his own face and admitted that he can't be the best player on a great team.

Even when you take Brown, Tatum and the Brooklyn pick off the table what Boston can do blows everyone else away.

if the pick that they just got for moving down to the third pick is on the table, then yes. It is those two potential top five picks that allow them to blow other offers away. I hope we're insisting on one of those picks.
