Hey all!

Here are this year's notes from Orlando Summer League. Hopefully some things of interest in here!

1. Joe Young dominated again. He probably should not have been playing as a 3rd year guy but the comment was "We just needed to see it before picking up his guarantee." With all the roster upheaval, he may play and play a lot.

2. They were really hoping to get Georges Niang some run and see what he could do, but him tweaking his knee on day one ended that. He could also see some time this season.

3. T.J. Leaf was awful the first day, but figured it out pretty quickly. He has the potential to be good, but the team is concerned at least some with the crowd at PF with Leaf, Thaddeus Young and Domantas Sabonis.

4. The PG13 trade caught the entire NBA offguard. No one was ready for that at all. Lots more questions than answer, as you all know.

5. Travis Leslie has a chance to make it back. Tremendous athlete. Needs to shoot it better, but he could camp with someone or play in the NBAGL if he doesn't get a big offer overseas.

6. Isaac Hamilton has a long way to go. He may not even be signed this year.

7. They think Darren Collison will help keep them competitive while they figure some things out and "We can always trade him. He's got a tradable deal" was the quote.

This specific point struck me because that quote pretty much sums up Collison's career.

The crowd at PF reinforces my thought that we'll trade Thad at some point, and possibly sooner rather than later. Is Niang considered part of that crowd?

I was impressed by Leslie and hope to see him back for training camp. We badly need wing depth so I assume it would be an attractive situation for Leslie too.

What's the word on CJ Miles? We all assumed he's gone, especially after the Bojan signing, but we heard from a local reporter afterwards that a CJ return is still a possibility. Though presumably it's going to be another "tradeable contract" deal.

Big disappointment with this summer league was Niang's injury. At this point, I'm not sure we'll ever see him break the rotation.

1. Leaf really warmed up. He hit his shots, put it on the floor, and what impressed me the most is he had many put backs. Much more athletic than I thought.

2. Travis Leslie and Trey Mckinney Jones were both on fire.

3. Jarnell Stokes is a monster. He rebounds, and he always seems to be in the right place for an easy shot.

4. Joe Young looked good. He can score at will, both off the dribble and from long range. He was finding open people. I'm not sure why most forums are down on him. His extreme threat to score led to many assists. The offense ran smooth with him.

5. I can see why Christmas was waived. He just did not make an impact.
