Per twitter reported in Trades forum. another report says it is a non-guaranteed training camp invitation.

Was no current NBA-player left on the FA-market?! Weird signing, thought he already retired 5 years ago

why not? we need an emergency backup small forward to fill out the roster. he won't steal development minutes from GRob or Bojan if he makes it through training camp. to me a known floor is more important than a high ceiling for an emergency backup player.

It better be a non-guaranteed deal. It's only one year but wow, is he some kind of player coach or something? They could have just went and got Rasul Butler again.

I'm thinking M.L. Carr sit at the end of the bench and waive a towel type. maybe that's too long ago though so think of the end of the Cavs bench.

senior moment. meant Bojan and thought Radmonovic instead of Bagdonovic. I'll go back and correct it.

But wouldn't it make more sense if they signed a young d league or summer league prospect that has shown some promise. Teams are finding d league gems every year these days. And we're wasting a roster spot on a never has been. I mean I would have rather the team kick the tires on Anthony Bennett even though it's clear he wasn't worthy of a high draft pick.

We may be able to find a Robert Covington type of player in the d league or summer league.

they could still do that. don't they usually bring 18 or more players to training camp? at this point we have 16 (15+Sumner).

I do think the mix of vets to young guys ratio is important on a team. I have to fully admit I had never heard of this guy before I read his name on the headline, so I don't know much about what he brings to the table, but if we are looking for a locker room, mentor type then a D league guy won't fill that role

I really think you guys are using last year's rules. We have an open two way contract that doesn't count toward the roster this year. That's the spot for a young guy with potential that needs time in Fort Wayne.

The problem is that there is zero upside to this for us. And the only reason we decided to sign a guy who hasn't played in 4 years is either nepotism or because we can't find enough young guys we want to take a free look at to fill up the rest of the invites. Either way, it's an issue and we have a bit of a history with nepotism.

This is an extremely minor move, but it's one of the small things we've done for years that winning teams don't do. And it's worse that we gave this out before giving one out to guys from SL who are deserving. I don't expect us to have the ability to do things like pay $3 mil for a 2nd round pick, but this is more of a level playing field excepting organizational preference of players.

In the long run it almost assuredly makes no difference. However, it's just an indication of the same issues being present.

Do we know for sure that second contract hasn't already been given to the Ben Moore kid? Haven't seen anything officially other than the announcement tweet from the reporter, it's a little unclear right now.

Don't know and missed any tweet, but if we signed him to a two way it doesn't change my point which was that the two way is the place for a young prospect. Signing an older player to the end of the bench doesn't hurt a thing. You guys are making much ado about nothing.

I assume this is just a guy who could help us defend LeBron for ten minutes a night...Nothing more, nothing less.
