Seraphin Waived

Post#1 » by Pacers_Freak » Mon Jul 31, 2017 9:25 pm

According to a few reports on twitter Kevin Seraphin has been waived by the Pacers. Find it odd we picked up the team option and then waived him.

Did I read somewhere that his contract became guaranteed August first?

I don't see the point as he was worth his contract. I suppose he was just the odd man out, but you'd think we could get a tiny asset for him but maybe not. Or maybe Pritchard has plans with the cap space.

I don't like this move at all. He was playing good ball in spurts last year and has a good rap with Lance Stephenson.

I guess Pritchard is wiping the slate clean in any way possible I suppose. But the way I personally see it, the more we use retreads Thad or Jefferson next season, the worse off our team will be. Seraphin would have been worthy of some of those frontcourt minutes.

I think this means there's another move coming. Maybe we're getting two pieces in exchange for Thad or something.

We have an overabundance of bigs, and this may be a move to play Sabonis at center more and possibly free up room for Leaf at power forward.

I liked Seraphim and thought he played well enough to keep his spot, but this may be an issue of him being a Bird signing and Pritchard wanting room and playing time for his guys.

Unless there is something on the way, I find this move quite puzzling. We can always give minutes to the young guys - Leaf and Sabonis, with Seraphin around even just as an insurance.

No surprise. I expected the cupboard of bigs to get emptied. Jefferson and seraphin were both out of playing shape last season. If he came to camp in similar shape compared to last season, he should have been cut.

I suspect also that if there are minutes for a vet big to be had, Pritchard is hoping they will go to Al Jefferson so we at least get something out of that ten million dollars he is getting.
