• Sources continue to say Indiana has eyes for Ricky Rubio. The Pacers can probably get him at a lower salary than Brogdon, over fewer seasons. Every dollar matters to Indiana.

I don't love the fit of Rubio alongside Victor Oladipo and the Domantas Sabonis/Myles Turner pairing. The Pacers seem committed to starting Sabonis and Turner, sources say, which makes Thaddeus Young a goner.

The league at large is skeptical about the staying power of the Sabonis/Turner duo, and that skepticism grew louder when the Pacers drafted another center -- Goga Bitadze -- last week. (Sabonis is up for what would be a big extension this summer.) Teams call about Sabonis and Turner all the time; the Pacers rejected offers for Turner at the draft, sources say. Those calls will continue.

Indiana needs to maximize shooting around Oladipo, Sabonis, and Turner. Rubio is good, but he does not do that. He does fit the tough, selfless ethos the Pacers have cultivated under Nate McMillan.

• The Pacers hope to bring back Bojan Bogdanovic, sources say, and they will toggle between Sabonis/Turner lineups and smaller groups featuring T.J. Warren at power forward.

Kennedy isn't great so take this with a grain of salt. Not sure where the money would be coming from to get him at a number he'd be interested in. Nor am I sure where he gets minutes with Domas playing some PF and us just trading for Warren.

Not thrilled with KD coming East. Hopefully one or more of Butler, Kawhi will go West.

Good for him.

Better for us it wasn’t here.

^Minimum deal for Wes. I'm sure he could have gotten more from another team.

Apparently he's the replacement for Brogdon.

He went to college at Marquette. It’s kind of his home base.

I looked at the lakers board a few min ago and they have a thread over there with people talking about how paul george screwed up by not going to the lakers last year. They are acting like it's a forgone conclusion that they will get Leonard. I have never seen such and entitled bunch of homers.

Solid pickup for them I think. Good culture guy. Gonna play hard. I like what they're putting together actually.

All signs are pointing for Kawhi to announce tomorrow where he’ll be signing. Think it’s looking like he’s staying with Toronto imo

New Orleans just waived Christian Wood. He’s a guy I’d be interested in claiming to backup the 4 spot. Minimum salary.

in football, the best time to use the waiver wire is usually after the final roster cuts.

Yeah, but I think this was a case of NO doing him a favor and waiving him a bit early so he could catch on.

He’s a young guy who has shown he might possibly my have some stretch to him, isn’t a terrible defender, a rebounder, and can do a little from each range. He’d compete with Leaf at best, for sure, but he seems to be a hard worker and well liked. :dontknow:

Pistons claimed him. we had a better record than the Pistons so if we also filed a claim, ours would have lost out.

Odds of TJ Leaf breaking out next season?

what would you consider a breakout to be? I earning 12 minutes a night as part of the regular 2nd unit rotation a breakout or would he have to push Sabonis and Warren for even more minutes?

As Wizop said, depends on what you mean by breaking out. He can play both the 4 and the 5, but we have Myles, Domas, and Goga set to get minutes plus Warren should get some backup 4 minutes. Obviously Myles/Domas will get the bulk of big minutes and it seems Goga will get a good shot too. But Leaf is talented and, if he regains his shot, really could have a chance at being a decent rotation player for us. He could also languish on the bench and eat up garbage minutes. Hard to really tell.

If you're asking for fantasy, he's probably not a great candidate, even for a later pick (depending on how deep the league is). I'd liken his situation to Norman Powell in Toronto. Has some talent and could put up some numbers, but very well may be on the outside looking in.
